San Juan Capistrano continues to evolve. A community standing the test of time—some 240 years—San Juan improves with each passing year. The city is built upon the phi- losophy, “preserving the past to enhance the future,” words dedicated local residents hold true. While San Juan wears centuries of change, it remains an enchanting beacon of the past. In San Juan progress and preservation have melded seamlessly to craft an alluring ambiance. Two centuries of San Juan have seen Spanish colonization and the founding of a Catholic mission, government overturns and statehood, ranch hands and cowboys, stagecoaches and Ford’s Model T, board and batten homes and adobes. Only time will tell what transformations the next 200 years hold.
