Making an air/vacuum
connection is simple – as is cleaning. Overall, the ease of use helps to reduces
downtime and lower costs, says Guill.
Rollepaal’s multilayer die heads are designed on the principle of symmetrical branching of the melt feed
Solid and multiwall Rollepaal designs die heads for both solid- and multi-wall pipe.
Its solid wall pipe extrusion die heads have been designed using 3D visco-elastic models, which calculate optimum flow lines for compression cones that would otherwise not be feasible, said the company. The spider dies are designed to be robust, though

easy to assemble and dismantle. Flow lines have been optimised for reliable, reproducible produc- tion, allowing high outputs and easy-to-run formulations, says the company. As the compression is high, the pipes are smooth without weak spider lines. Features include: modular set-up; quick tool change; and, thermal centring – which allows faster wall thickness adjustment. They can
be used to make PVC pipes from 20-1,000mm, and poly- olefin pipe from 20-2,000mm. Meanwhile, its multilayer die heads are designed on the principle of symmetrical branching of the melt feed for the layers. Symmetry in-melt feed guarantees the best layer distribution, as all the flow lines have equal length, it says. This makes the die independent of melt viscosity, as there is no need for a restrictor gap with different length in circumferential direction for correction. The LXGM-G Series PE pipe extrusion die-head from
Ningbo Fangli has an optimised spiral structure, to ensure adaptability and stability of different raw material extrusion, says the company. The whole series is modular and universally designed, and can be used in the production of pipes from 250 to 2000mm. Each model has single-layer, double-layer and triple-layer structure, and the die-heads are equipped with an inner cooling system. Features include: suitability for use with a wide
range of materials, including all types of PE; spiral structure across the series; precise temperature control, and low melt temperature; low internal pipe stress; and, the same universal design of bush and mandrel is used on different base dies.
