Travel Brits draws up training fun H
The 10th annual Travel Brit Awards take place on July 10. With the training activities almost as hotly anticipated as the gala dinner itself, we caught up with partner suppliers to hear their plans

Head of sales Tariq Khan says: “We’re a nation of pet lovers and Hoseasons is known for its pet-friendly breaks, but a few of our furry friends are in need of rescue – join us on the day to see how you and your colleagues can help!” First-time supporters Newmarket Holidays will be testing agents’ knowledge and word skills. Account manager Sas Rowbotham says: “Our activity is an anagram game. We want everyone to fall in love with Newmarket at our first Travel Brits, so we’ll be giving everyone a range of clues and two teams will compete to work out the answers first!” Teams of agents will also battle it out with
SuperBreak. Key account manager Claire Dutton explains: “The Travel Brits is a fantastic opportunity to meet some top-selling agents. We’ll be running a fun-filled session where two teams will battle it out to win some fun prizes!” Delicious treats will be up for grabs with
Shearing Holidays. National sales manager Mike Bowers says: “The Travel Brits is the premier UK-focused trade event. The short sessions work really well and offer fun training with some of the best agents in the country.” Event host Bourne Leisure is
keeping its activity a closely guarded secret. National sales manager Louise Tansey says: “The Travel Brit awards are a great way for us to recognise agents. We will once again have some exciting and engaging activities to help them learn about our three Bourne Leisure holiday brands, so watch this space!” Geographical knowledge
is likely to be useful for agents joining VisitEngland. Marketing partnerships manager Claire Burdall says: “Join us for a fun and informative map-based game that will test your knowledge and show you some

Visit Guernsey and Condor Ferries after proving a smash hit with some culinary treats last year. Sales director Gill McCarthy says: “After a fantastic first year at the Travel Brits last year, we’ll be showcasing the best of the Channel Islands with some fun and games.” Great Rail Journeys business
development manager Claire Webb
says: “We’ll be hosting a Steamy Shoot Out! at the archery range, with agents locating steam lines on giant maps. And if they don’t fancy doing some shooting, they’ll be able to find the same info with a wordsearch!” In addition to the host suppliers, agents will also be able to learn more about Abta and the work of the Travel Brits’ chosen charity, Abta LifeLine.
Senior member services manager Julie Jones says: “Along with Abta LifeLine, we are looking forward
to introducing the activities and spending time with the agents. Abta will also be available to meet with agents and ensure they are maximising their membership.”
What’s in store?
The Travel Brit Awards feature an afternoon of fun educational sessions, followed by a gala dinner, awards and dancing, with Travel Weekly there in force as trade media partner. The awards are being hosted at Warner Leisure Hotels’ recently refurbished Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel (pictured), a stunning Victorian castle in North Wales. It boasts 45 new Garden Rooms
and Suites with a private patio or balcony, all set in landscaped gardens. The venue also boasts a stunning glass atrium inside the castle, and a newly extended restaurant and bar.
