Malta plans to host up to 200 agents on fam trips

Malta Tourism Authority’s new UK director Peter Vella hopes to attract up to 200 travel agents on fam trips this year as the destination targets a 10%-15% rise in visitor arrivals.
In his first trade interview since
he started last September, Vella admitted there was a “perception issue” to address to help the country increase sales through UK agents. He is encouraging agents to sell

Malta reached 526,000 in 2015. From January to March this year, UK arrivals were up 12.4%. The UK accounts for 31% of all
arrivals to Malta, and Vella said: “I’d be very happy to get as close to
600,000 as possible this year.”

Construction is under way and rides are in
production on a site alongside Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and the Emirati-themed water park, Yas Waterworld. The attraction will feature DC Comics superheroes, including Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, as well as Warner Bros cartoons such as Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo and Tom and Jerry. Guests will be able to step inside Gotham City and
Metropolis, and experience the cartoon worlds of Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera under one roof.
