London. Embassy Gardens covers 17 acres in the Southbank regeneration area. The site comprises thousands of luxury homes, workspaces, amenities as well as the refurbishment of Battersea Power Station, New Covent Garden market and the US Embassy. More than 1MW of cooling was required for Phase 1 of the residential build. Faced with a shortage of electrical power and the cost of providing the necessary power, Robur’s gaspowered chillers were chosen.

The 50 Robur chillers, supplied by ESS, are mounted on factoryassembled skids, each with a

90kW output but requiring just a 30 Amp single phase power supply. The integrated controls automatically "cascade" the chiller modules and share the load evenly between each of them. Kevin Pacey, Managing Director of ESS Ltd, said:

"The Robur gas powered chillers provide a truly modular solution. The direct digital controls ensure shared workload and, in the event of a mechanical failure or service downtime, less than 7% of output is lost.” Robur gas chillers use natural refrigerant in a

factorysealed circuit and are not subject to FGas regulation. Thanks to an almost static refrigeration cycle, the performance levels remain unchanged over time.

Chemical cleaning pump for industrial plate heat exchangers from Kamco

found that oil coolers were running too hot, and heat exchangers used for pasteurising food were struggling to keep up, the cause was quickly identified as being scale and corrosion debris in the water side of several plate heat exchangers. They needed a quick way

to chemically clean the heat exchangers, ideally without stripping them down and losing too much production. The solution was a

Kamco Scalebreaker C210 chemical cleaning and descaling pump, which may be used to clean plate heat exchangers and many other types of heating and cooling equipment. After circulating

Scalebreaker FX descaling liquid through an oil cooler for a few hours, the inlet pressure had dropped from 29 psi to 14 psi, and the flow rate had dramatically increased, indicating that the heat exchanger had been very effectively cleaned, without any disassembly. The C210 safely encloses

a profile boost in the Dutch and Swedish markets. A new slimline version of the Smith’s Space Saver was launched last year – the Smith’s Space Saver SS80 ¬– making it the only plinth heater in Europe that fits IKEAstyle 80mm plinth heights. The Space Saver SS80 fits much narrower plinths found in kitchen designs popular in Scandinavia and Germany. Like its taller counterparts,

pursued with a fully featured infrared camera and this is why FLIR Systems has introduced its new TG130.

Priced at just £181 (ex VAT), this new Spot Thermal

Camera features the FLIR Lepton® core that is the size of a smart phone SIM card. This makes the new TG130 lightweight, ergonomic and pocket portable so it is always available for instant troubleshooting. Simply aim the instrument at a target object or

surface to measure the temperature, then click the trigger to freeze and view the image. The FLIR TG130 is ideal for spotting thermal anomalies which can then be flagged for more detailed thermal inspection. The same unit can be used for looking at heat loss, bad electrical connections, HVAC performance and source water leaks. It’s a good toolbox instrument for anyone involved

in plant or facilities maintenance. For more information open this video link

installing the Space Saver SS80 frees up wall space for extra work surfaces and more storage or desirable kitchen appliances. It provides an alternative for home owners having to make do with a panel radiator or expensive under floor heating. A CGI animation demonstrating

the way the Space Saver works to create additional storage in your kitchen, has been edited to include a Dutch and Swedish voiceover. The Dutch version is now available to watch on Smith’s

RAPTEC® from Monier Roofing Components – launched at UK Construction Expo – is a universal cladding and jacketing material used to weatherproof HVAC pipes, ducting and all types of insulation.

Unlike selfadhesive tapes, its backing selfwelds to the facing on laps, giving a

watertight bond that withstands even extreme weather conditions. With no need for primer, adhesive, sealant or heat activation, it is a quick and

extremely costeffective means of preventing corrosion under insulation (CUI) at the duct pipe.

WRAPTEC® can be stretched up to 50% in either direction without loss of functionality

and it can be cut by scissors. Such ease of use and timesaving makes it ideal for detailing and application over irregular surfaces. Offering exceptional resistance to UV, the polyisobutylene rolls are available in four

sizes from 70 to 560mm. For more information email: wraptec@monier.com or visit our website.

Powerful, fastacting, stainless steel boilers for Georgian Hotel

tlantic Boilers of Lancashire have supplied a new heating system for the 30bedroom Wynnstay Hotel in Oswestry, giving flexibility for managing the energy programme over the

varying winter and summer seasons. Renovation of the gasfired heating and hot water

plant included replacing the 30year old castiron heating boiler and two 15year old directfired hot water generators. Two new VF low NOx, premix low NOx gas condensing boilers were installed, each of which has modulating output between 26kW and 100kW.

The two boilers give efficiency up to 97% GCV and with a builtin boiler management system are arranged for one to serve domestic hot water and one to provide space heating to the hotel – either boiler can serve either heating requirement. The VF boilers form part of a flexible, compact system and have been

installed in many types of building including golf clubs, care homes and housing trust accommodation.

are designed for pumping drinking water in closed circuits, which are commonly found in singlefamily or twofamily houses as well as in larger building projects. Like the other Calio pumps the new circulators offer a highefficiency permanent magnet motor to achieve top efficiencies. With onetouch operation the flow rate can be adjusted via three speed levels. In the event of a blocked rotor the motor stops automatically, and a fault is indicated. Three LEDs display the operating status. The screwed connections are available in dimension Rp ½ internal

thread (EN 10266) or G 1 ¼ external thread (DIN ISO 228). The maximum flow rate equals 0.7 m3/h. The pump's maximum head is 1.0 m. The drinking water temperature should measure between +5 °C and +65 °C. The new pump sets, which are available in four designs, can be supplied with either a plug or a cable. This enables electrical connection without any tools. Apart from its simple standard design, the pump set is also available as a variant with integrated nonreturn valve and shut off valve. The volute casing of the new pumps is made of brass, the impellers of

technopolymer and the shafts of stainless steel. The wetted parts are made of polyamide. Service water supply systems comprise a boiler, central water supply

and several taps. The further the hot water storage tank from a tapping point, the more cold water needs to run out of the pipeline before hot water can follow. The new CalioTherm S NC serves to pump hot water through the pipeline to the tapping points, and then back to the water heater through the circulation line. In this case, hot water is available at the tapping points without any delay. For more information call 01509 231872 or visit:
