solution. All types of companies need additional storage at times – whether it’s to boost short-term capacity or create long-term semi-permanent warehousing. And Spaciotempo has now produced a guide which reveals the main advantages of its temporary buildings compared to other storage solutions. The document, entitled ‘Temporary Building Basics’, available to download at ht tp: / /www. spac iotempo. co.uk/ resour ces /whi te- papers, also dispels some common misconceptions about temporary structures. It spells out the huge variety of potential applications for a Spaciotempo building and explains how the company’s innovative solutions can save both time and money compared to either a permanent build or off-site storage. As market leaders in the design, manufacture and installation of temporary structures, Spaciotempo is well placed to help decision-makers get the most from their business.

operatives, citing not only the Health & Safety risks of non-compliance but the practical benefits that can be achieved from enhanced efficiency. According to Mark James, Health & Safety Manager at Thorworld Industries, the company has seen a year-on-year drop in customers taking up its training option, which is designed specifically to help operatives in the loading area to optimise the safe usage of mobile yardramps and associated loading & unloading aids. Thorworld points out that it is a legal requirement of the Health & Safety At Work Act to provide, amongst other things, information, instruction, supervision and training to ensure employees are adequately safe in the workplace, therefore there are substantial benefits to seeking training direct from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

s well as product training in Graz, they have both visited some of KNAPP UK’s other sites with resident maintenance teams –

including John Lewis and Boots – for training and work experience. Commented Roy Cheevers, KNAPP UK’s Site Engineering Manager at the British Amy, 21, and Sam, 23, have finished their four-year apprenticeships with KNAPP UK, undertaken at Leicester College and with KNAPP’s resident engineering team at the site of British Gas in Leicester. They were presented with engraved glass awards and framed certificates at a special event in the company’s offices near Aylesbury recently. Commented Craig Rollason, Managing Director, “Amy and Sam have worked extremely hard to complete their apprenticeships and have both proven to be a real asset to the team at British Gas. Their success and that of their predecessors – our two apprentices at Clarks – has led us to recruit a further two apprentices to join us from August this year.”

experienced sales team after impressing the Employee-Owned company during a series of interviews. Unlike other companies, Union interview candidates using employees from all levels within the company to ensure the right people are found first time and perhaps more importantly, they share Union’s philosophy. Henry, 25, who lives just north-west of Oxford, has joined as a Technical

Sales Engineer, covering the southern part of the UK. His main role will be the selling of Union’s doors by following up on leads generated by the team based at its Leeds headquarters. Henry’s previous experience in selling high quality, high value capital equipment will be advantageous when selling Union’s products on a B2B basis. Lisa brings with her a wealth of sales experience and will form part of

Union’s Sales Intelligence Development Department; she will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer relationships as well as tracking planned projects that may require High Speed Doors.

The surge in orders has

been in part attributed to the success of Union’s Lifetime Warranty scheme, which is included as standard on most doors sold and provides an extensive guarantee as well as a visit from Union’s highly trained technicians when required. Alan Hirst, Sales Director

at Union Industries, said: “The effectiveness and durability of our doors means that there are now more in operation than ever before, some of which have completed more than ten million cycles. “This in turn means more of our engineers’ time is spent conducting check-

ups to ensure the doors operate at an optimal level for years after their installation – all included free of charge under our Lifetime Warranty scheme. “The reputation for quality we have developed over the years has been

integral to our recent success and subsequent expansion. Lisa and Henry bring with them a vast array of sales experience but are also great characters that will fit in well with the Union ‘family’” Henry said: “Union has an enviable reputation for its products and

commitment to excellence. The prospect of working for an Employee-Owned company, where the passion and responsibility for its success is shared by all was also very attractive.” Lisa added: “The interview was really interesting as it enabled me to engage

with different people from the business, which reflect Union’s philosophy. I’ve heard a great deal about Union and I’m raring to get underway.”
