Ask genie
If you had three wishes what would you ask for? The power to make great e-learning projects? Expert knowledge? A dashing goatee? Well, Genie already has all that. And he wants to give something back! He’s spent a millennium trapped inside a lamp cramming so that he can grant your e-learning wishes. And now he’s on a mission to eradicate boring, boring e-learning – one case at a time. You can fi nd out more at
unleashthegenie.com!
Dear Genie, I’m a fun guy. I enjoy meandering slideshows, stock images and trouser presses just as much as the next party animal. I worked hard to ‘bring the party’ to my latest project. But according to reports nobody is fi nishing it. Well, one person did, but she slipped into a coma and her productivity levels have barely improved at all. What is it with kids today? Can’t they let their hair down by ingesting a big wad of banal information anymore? Next you’re going to say listening to Chris de Burgh in your best tie isn’t ‘fun’!

I don’t sit on the fence. I don’t even have a garden. So I’ll be honest – your e-learning sounds reallllly boring. Hey, I’d rather spend another millennium in my lamp than complete it. And I can’t stand my lamp! I’ve inhaled so much dust in there my insides look like a hoover bag. If you really want to ‘bring the party’ (yikes), it’s genie-peasie.
Gamify your template! If you’re enjoying yourself, you’re 12% more productive – top fact, huh? Using game templates, you can transform snoozy information into super-fun activities. Your colleagues won’t be dozing off if they’re competing for rewards on the racetrack, or climbing a treacherous mountain. There’s an old genie saying: “Those who gamify enjoy maximum satisfaction and learning across their organisation”. That’s true Genie-us! (sorry)
Genie
Dear Genie, Long-time admirer, fi rst-time summoner.
I’m stuck in an endless loop of e-learning revisions with the fussiest client in the world. Every time I send him an update there’s a new alteration. “Shouldn’t that be clearer?” “Can you make this more engaging?” “Why are you hitting your head with the keyboard?”
I’m wasting all of my time re-exporting it and sending the updated fi le back to him. It’s like I’m in the fi lm Groundhog Day, if, instead of being a news reporter, Bill Murray was a marketing assistant at a mid-weight private equity fi rm, which would make a terrible, terrible movie. Help me save time, Genie! Ms I. Dunno
Time is precious, especially when you haven’t got centuries to binge- watch I Dream of Genie boxsets, like me. Luckily I have just the thing to save you wasting away in front of a progress bar… ALAKAZAM! (That doesn’t actually do anything. But it sounds pretty cool, right?). Introducing cloud-based collaboration!
I know how easy it is to get locked into a loop of minor edits. The back and forth with developers, begging them to make your changes. Now, thanks to ol’

genie pants, you can give your client limited, read-only access, so they can review the project and give you feedback in real time. No more wasting time uploading/ reloading, crying/more crying. Alakazam-azing, am I right?
Genie Dear Genie, ARGH! Un – Clean – Un – Clean.
Genie I am an organised person and I’ve just found myself in some sort of fi le hell where my project assets are all over the place and I’ve no idea where any of them are saved. And I know where everything is. Heck, I even know where I am – in the foetal position behind the photocopier.
Where to start! Please genie – send help – there’s only so much Rescue Remedy a man can drink!
Mr Neat N. Tidy
Woah! Breathe for me… OK, now try breathing without making that noise. Don’t worry. Genie’s got everything under control. Much like you, I also hate clutter. You might not think there’s much
space to clutter up a lamp, but believe me, my lodger, Gary, fi nds a way.
When you use my asset libraries, anything you upload will go straight in there,
whatever the source, and will be magically arranged according to project. No one can keep track of everything, unless you’re me of course. By assigning libraries to your project, your colleagues can fi nd everything without having to trawl through the clutter like you’re returning to the lamp after Gary’s had it to himself for the weekend (would it kill you to use a dustpan and brush, Gary?). I want to make the e-learning process as enjoyable as possible for you. And trudging through fi le-after-fi le isn’t fun for anyone. Now, run yourself a bath, put some Enya on and by the time you get out, rest assured everything will be where you left it.
Genie out. Genie
