Will Tui hit target? Story: Thomson to go by 2018 but First Choice to remain Glad to see First Choice will stay, but sad to see Thomson disappearing. I think this will upset some of their target audience. I still wonder what will happen to the likes of Crystal and Sunsail? l Andrew Travel Weekly would welcome a response from Tui

Barrhead & Sandals Story: Sandals Resorts and Barrhead Travel join forces This approach will come back and bite Barrhead Travel. What about those destinations that do not have a Sandals product? I am based in the Caribbean and regularly make agency sales visits in Scotland. Do I really want to meet agents and conduct training surrounded by another brand? Well done, Sandals; poor strategic vision, Barrhead. l Nova Alexander

Sounds like a clever initiative between two respected brands. I expect to see more ‘joint ventures’ across the retail/ operating industry in the future. l Trevor Davis

Lufthansa will talk Lufthansa is not expecting the trade to roll over in accepting our Distribution Cost Charge (Travel Weekly, June 11). We have had numerous talks with our partners and I accept that there is still need for discussion. There has been a wide variety of reaction worldwide, from consent and approval to criticism and refusal. Travel agents will continue to be an important pillar in our channel mix – they sell two-thirds of our tickets. We would be foolish to put this at risk, so will jointly find new ways of collaboration. l Christian Schindler, regional director for the UK, Ireland and Iceland, Lufthansa

It had to be you, Paul Story: Silver Travel Awards (Travel Weekly, June 18) While we are used to having to dance to the tune of our MD at times, I have to point out that unlike his illustrious name-sake Tony Bennett,

our boss goes by the name of Paul Bennett (pictured). l Harold Burke, sales director, The UK Holiday Group Editor replies: Congratulations on your award, Paul, and sincere apologies for our mistake.

MAN up, airport

LETTER OF THE WEEK

Manchester advertises itself as an award-winning airport, but I have to disagree. My wife and I recently had to wait for two and a half

hours for our bags at Manchester, after flying back from Venice with Jet2. This was totally unacceptable and meant our travel plans back to Scotland were disrupted. There was a lone Jet2 person trying to reassure the

crowd that everything was being done. There was no representation from Manchester airport itself, and the only other personnel were two policemen to calm the crowd! I later called Jet2 to find out who exactly was

responsible but was told to email them, which I did. They took a week to send a standard reply, saying it was due to aircraft being slightly late. Judging from online comments, this was not an isolated incident. Come on, Manchester airport, you should be able to cope with multiple flight arrivals. Get your act together! l Simon Gemmell, business associate, Designer Travel Travel Weekly would welcome a response from Manchester airport
