Six Senses expands into China with Qing Cheng Mountain
The Six Senses hotel chain opened its first resort in China this month. Six Senses Qing Cheng
Mountain, which is less than an hour’s drive from Chengdu, offers 113 rooms ranging from semi- detached suites in duplex villas with balconies to courtyard suites and garden and pool villas. The rooms are decorated
in a traditional Chinese style, featuring locally made furniture and exposed beams. Guests can download a smartphone app to control the air-conditioning and lighting in the villas. The hotel’s restaurants use
produce from local farmers, as well as the resort’s organic garden. All-day venue Farm2Fork offers
buffets and à la carte menus; restaurant 28 Zodiac offers Sichuan fare; and The View is set on a rooftop overlooking the ‘show kitchen’. The resort features a waterfall
and gardens. Ten treatment rooms offer a range of therapies, while tai chi and yoga classes are available. Other facilities include a cocktail bar, smoothie bar, three swimming pools, a gym, tennis courts and a children’s club. Prices start at $391 a night with
breakfast, inclusive of tax.
