Huber Engineered Materials has acquired the Safire nitrogen and phosphorus flame retardant (FR) technol- ogy from Floridienne Group and its Catena Additives subsidiary. Huber said it plans to integrate the technology with its existing halogen-free
portfolio of FRs and smoke suppressants, then rapidly develop a line of commercial products.

Grafe has set up a new facility at its design centre in Blank- enhain, Germany to demon- strate and optimise com- pounds and masterbatches for extrusion blow moulding. It can now simulate multi-layer and co-extrusion applications. The facility features a wide

investment has completed its portfolio of demonstration options for thermoplastic processing methods. The design centre already houses several injection moulding machines, a flat film and blown film line for packaging, a machine for profile and sheet extrusion for the furniture and building industries, and another for the production and sampling of spun-dyed synthetic fibres. ❙

DuPont increases PA capacity
DuPont Performance Polymers has increased by 20% production capacity for Zytel PA 6,6 and PA 6 at its Uentrop facility in Hamm, Germany. The latest investment was made to address growing demand in the automotive industry. DuPont declined to
comment on whether this expansion involved com- pounding or polymerisation capacity or both. However, the expansion is known to include extra capacity for glass-reinforced grades. ❙

Finance Wales exits Silvergate investment
Finance Wales has exited from its equity investment in the Wrexham-based colour masterbatch producer Silvergate Plastics, selling its shareholding to the executive directors. It will continue to support the business as a finance provider. During the period since Finance Wales supported a manage- ment buy-out in the company from British Vita back in 2008, Silvergate has increased its annual turnover from £4.2 million to £8.6 million (from €5.3 million to €10.9 million), while also investing heavily. It is now the UK’s largest custom colour masterbatch manufacturer, according to Finance Wales. ❙
