owned operation comprising businesses originating in England and the USA as well as Italy, and which is now headquartered in the USA. But its Italian influence is strong, so it merits mention in this report. Business for its Continuous Mixer continues to grow, said business unit director Paul Lloyd on the stand of the HF Mixing Group, which owns Farrel Pomini. He said the equip- ment has particular strengths in the production of masterbatches, PVC and compounds of temperature- sensitive materials. Strong growth around the world in luxury vinyl tiles

very quiet, but now it’s coming back.” Maris reported that it is now renting out time on its TM20HT laboratory extruder for material developers, with special low rates being offered to research centres and universities. “With this machine, it will be possible not only to produce small quantities of common materials such as compounds and masterbatches, but also to produce adhesives, carry out reactive extrusion, recycling of vulcanized elastomers, and develop continuous ways for producing materials that are normally produced in batch processes,” the company said. Customers can also buy time to carry out a variety of tests in the company’s characterization laboratory. Bausano presented the latest version of its MD family

of counter-rotating twin-screw extruders, the MD 118 – the ‘MD’ stands for MultiDrive as Bausano twin-screw extruders use four motors to reduce the amount of torque per motor. Commercial director Domenico Baudino said that Bausano’s continuing objective is to develop new equipment that exceeds the output of previous generations while having the same or less energy consumption. “This extruder has an output of between 20 and 30% higher than the one it replaces, whether it be for pipes, profiles or granules,” he said. (LVTs) for industrial and domestic use has provided a boost for sales, he said. “Every one of our PVC flooring customers had an active project in LVTs last year or this.” Current growth is around 16% per year, and it is predicted to stay at that level for the next few years. Farrel Pomini equipment is very good for compounding highly-filled materials like the ones needed for the tiles, Lloyd said. LVTs compete against wood, stone, and other hard-wearing materials,

with a key advantage being in ease of maintenance. The strong growth in this market led Farrel Pomini

to a major development last year, updating one of its traditional products, the FCM, which is widely used in the flexible PVC sector. “For the PVC flooring sector, we increased the power that we can put through the machine,” Lloyd said. The result was the FCM HT (for high torque). This retains a key feature of the FCM, an automatic quick-opening feature that facilitates cleaning for maintenance or colour changes. The latest model in the range is a seven-inch version, the 7FCM-HT, which fits between the existing 6FCM-HT and the 9FCM-HT machines. It has a maximum output of 3,000 kg/h. Another recent major development is the CP4000, the

largest model based on the Compact Processor platform with an output of 4,000 kg/h, and aimed at the master- batch industry in particular. The company last year delivered the first CP400 to the Ravago Group in Italy. Relatively new batch mixing equipment maker
