The total attendance (at 128,264) was slightly down on the 2014 event in Shanghai (130,370) but well ahead of the previous for Guangzhou (114,103) – Chinaplas alter- nates between the two cities each year. Haitian adds capacity in China and Europe

Haitian International used its home exhibition to show off its latest Chinese injection machinery manufacturing investment and to detail its plans for expansion of its operations in Europe. The company, which posted annual sales of RMB7.56bn (around €1.1bn) for 2014, opened the first section of its new all-electric machine operation at Chunxiao, Ningbo, just two days before the doors opened at Chinaplas. The 120,000m2

plant is designed to

produce up to 5,000 machines a year at full capacity, while the site has space to double production capacity to 10,000 in the future.

The Chunxiao plant will

initially build machines from the company’s premium Venus and Zeres ranges (the Venus is a full-electric machine, the Zeres incorporates a small hydraulic power pack to drive core pulls for technical moulding applications). Haitian sold more than 1,000 Venus

machines last year. The new plant has been designed for optimised production efficiency, accord- ing to Fang Jiangting, Deputy General Manager with responsibility for production. “The concentration on sub-assembly stations for injection units, clamping units, control cabinets or machine beds reflects our modular approach concept while incorporating our high standards of quality,” he said. Features of the factory include decentralised ware- houses located alongside the

individual sub-assembly units to avoid wasteful internal movement and improve inventory control. The company has also adopted an “on-demand” painting system. Meanwhile, the company

revealed more details about the previously-announced expansion of its European operation at Ebermannsdorf in Germany. Originally set up to assemble the company’s premium Zhafir line of machines, the site has also been home to the Haitian Europe team since the beginning of this year.

More than €10m is to be

invested in a new production hall to double production capacity at the site. “With the construction of the new production hall, Haitian International Germany will be able to offer Zhafir and Haitian machines for the European market, mainly out of Eber- mannsdorf,” said Xiang Linfa, General Manager of newly- formed Haitian International Germany.

He said the new local

assembly capacity would enable it to respond faster to European customer orders, particularly from Italy, Czech Republic and Poland. “Busi- ness figures are showing strong growth,” he said. Haitian reported a 13.1%

increase in global export sales in 2014, reaching a record level of RMB2.331bn (around €353m). Key export markets included the US, Korea and Thailand, where the company said it has achieved double digit growth. ❙ www.haitian.com
