Travelport’s hotel inventory has been bolstered with the addition of 70,000 largely independent proper- ties from booking platform HRS. The global distribution system, which provides a wide range of content for TMCs, among other users, has signed a multi-year deal with HRS. Its inventory will be fully integrated later in the year and also gives Travelport users


access to HRS Business Tariff. The scheme offers corporate rates at over 35,000 hotels globally.





Roomzzz Aparthotels Double addition


The Roomzzz Aparthotel group has added to its portfolio with two openings this spring and has also announced plans for a second property in Manchester. A new aparthotel has opened in Nottingham, which follows hot on the heels of its new location in Chester. The latter was the first of the group’s properties to feature a ‘New Generation’ concept of bold, bespoke interiors and rooms that range from 21m2


pods to palatial

25 and counting The DoubleTree by Hilton Nottingham Gateway became the 25th DoubleTree hotel in the UK when it opened for business in April following a two-year, £5.5million renovation project. The DoubleTree brand arrived in the UK in 2008.


IHG Loyalty rewards


The InterContinental Hotels Group has launched a loyalty programme for business travel bookers,


offering rewards points for guest rooms, meetings and events booked at over 4,700 hotels worldwide. The scheme is called IHG Business Rewards and falls under the group's existing IHG Rewards Club.


SERVICED APARTMENT specialists SACO and US-based Oaktree Capital Management have merged to create a £60million hospitality company.


The combined business will operate under the SACO name and launch a new sub-brand, Beyonder ApartHotels. Beyonder is targeting the millennial generation with leading technology and minimum 30m2 apartments. Tablets control everything from the lighting and blinds to the television, and free wifi access and fi lms come as standard. The fi rst Beyonder ApartHotel is due to open in London by the year’s end. In total, the newly merged company will comprise a


portfolio of 1,645 apartments. It will be led by Stephen Hanton, managing director of SACO since 2012. “This transaction marks the exciting next chapter of


SACO’s growth,” says Hanton. “We have acquired and are developing a unique set of properties for our growing business traveller clientele, whose preferences include more space and better integration into the fabric of the cities in which they are temporarily working and living.”


Marriott reveals aggressive plans for Moxy brand


Marriott has announced ag- gressive expansion plans for its new ‘affordable design’ brand, Moxy. Having debuted in Milan last autumn, it plans to add 2,700 Moxy hotel rooms in key European cities by the end of 2016, and reach 150 hotels by 2020. Expansion will begin across Europe and reach the UK next year with the Moxy Aberdeen Airport and the Moxy London Stratford due to open mid-2016.
