IT WAS an immensely proud moment for Rupert Morcom when he was awarded the Rising Star accolade at The People Awards in 2014. For Rupert, it was recognition of his professionalism and dedication to delivering the best possible service to the clients of his employer, travel management company HRG. His innovative ideas and strategic thinking have helped ensure that the requirements of each client he works with are met effectively and efficiently. Since joining the TMC seven years ago, Rupert has worked across many

departments within the company, always insisting on the highest standards. His commitment and resourcefulness has
seen Rupert rapidly progress within the company, taking on new responsibilities and commitments – and succeeding with them – every step of the way. Today, he is Continuous Improvement Manager within the HRG Global
Government team. His remit is simple: to develop the business and to deliver the best solutions to HRG’s government clients. Using his experience, Rupert does this
not only by supporting the different departments across the government team, but by also creating and managing various initiatives to improve online adoption, reduce policy leakage and to drive technology best practice. “Winning the 2014 Rising Star Award
was a truly overwhelming experience and I feel very privileged to have received recognition for doing a job I am passionate about,” says Rupert. “Within our industry technology is an important enabler but it is the people in our sector who make the real difference. I am proud to be part of an industry that continues to recognise and celebrate the people at its centre, delivering real value and service excellence.” Rupert is quick to acknowledge the help
that his employer has given him through- out his career, and in particular the way in which the company puts people at the heart of what it does. “While winning this award means a great
deal to me personally, I think it is also a real testament to HRG’s support and development of its employees,” he says. “I have been fortunate enough to work
with fantastic people at all levels within the business and they have helped me learn, develop and progress with my career.” Taking place on May 22nd, Rupert will
be back at The People Awards this year, but this time in a judging capacity – an experience that he is very much looking forward to. “The People Awards has given me so much and I’m delighted to have been offered the opportunity to give something back by being one of the judges at this year’s awards,” says Rupert. “I’m looking forward to reviewing the
large number of nominations that have been received and to witnessing what a huge difference people from across our industry make in so many ways.”
