Product News 41 Critical temperature control for life boats
TEMPERATURE control specialist, ICS Cool Energy, has supplied a temporary temperature solution to the RNLI’s (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) manufacturing site in East Cowes. The prime operating temperature in the factory is between 18°C and 22°C, but in the summer temperatures far surpass this and can make the composite materials used to manufacture the hull of a boat less durable in production resulting in a sub-standard finish and rework if not handled correctly. ICS Cool Energy’s engineers recommended a temporary seasonal solution consisting of a powerful 135kW iC-660 chiller, a 40kW electric boiler and five internal 15kW fan coil units. The units were installed to provide flexible temperatures offering hot/cold water through hoses to the internal fan coil units, which were positioned evenly throughout the facility to prevent constant temperature and eliminate hot spots.
The dual heating/cooling functionality can also able to operate in reverse throughout the winter months when the facility is too cold to achieve optimum conditions. ICS Cool Energy
Cold Store Rentals provides a solution for Nutriment
COLD Store Rentals (CSR) has supplied specialist temperature control solutions to raw dog food specialist, Nutriment. Nutriment director Suzanne Brock said: “95% of everything we do is frozen, so we must have reliable equipment available to look after our stock. We’ve been working with Cold Store Rentals now since we started 18 months ago, as they fulfil a niche we can’t get elsewhere. It wasn’t possible for us to lay out six figures for a freezer, for example, so lease hire from the team at CSR is a perfect solution.” Cold Store Rentals offered a complete package to Nutriment, including branded freezers and display fridges for its stockists and retail outlets. Director at Cold Store Rentals, Steve Prior, said: “We have installed two bespoke built-up blast freezers to the Nutriment main site before and after Christmas and have supplied their stockists with chest freezers to keep the product frozen right up until it reaches the customer.” Cold Store Rentals

Liverpool theatre keeps it natural
A NATURAL ventilation system was a key requirement to deliver improved comfort and air quality and reduce emissions in the redevelopment of Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre. The theatre, which was designed as a low energy building following its re-development, was the first naturally ventilated auditorium in the country. It also won this year’s RIBA Stirling Prize for the best new building of the year.
Air distribution products designed by Waterloo played a key part in helping the theatre achieve an excellent BREEAM rating. By working in close
collaboration with Waterman Group Plc, advanced air distribution products from Waterloo Air Products Plc were specified to enable the theatre to meet its environmental objectives.
REZNOR, a leading UK supplier of gas-fired warm air heating and ventilation systems has launched the P125, a packaged cooling and heating unit.
The new range of units has been developed utilising the proven engineering expertise gained by Reznor with over 125 years of manufacturing HVAC equipment.
In order to maintain comfort conditions within a building, along with air quality and humidity, a HVAC system must be able to deal with all climatic variables. Reznor’s range of rooftop units comprising models YDSA, YDHA and YDMA, have been developed with these factors in mind. Reznor
