Maitland Group turned to short online courses

International advisory firm Maitland Group has used a series of e-learning courses to provide management and interpersonal skills development across Europe, the US and South Africa. Sonia Pimm, talent & learning manager at Maitland Group, said: “Our staff work in teams across borders, practice groups and jurisdictions to meet client needs, so it is essential for our success that different people in different countries with different expertise all cooperate and work productively together.” Maitland employs 863 managers, technical professionals and support staff in 13 locations, including lawyers, accountants, investment fund experts and administrators. Twenty two online courses set out to highlight effective management and workplace behaviours, in short learning bites, to help employees reflect on and improve the way they interact with colleagues.

Global education sector technology spending to exceed $67.8bn in 2015

Social and economic pressures are forcing senior education leaders to rethink business models and consider a range of new technologies, to bring down the cost of administering education institutions and scale the business, according to research from Gartner. The company has also identified strategic technologies.

Gartner vice president and analyst Jan-Martin

Lowendahl said traditional educational business models are being fundamentally challenged by digitalization. He said: “An increasing number of technical

innovations and technology trends are emerging from within the industry, but most will emerge outside the industry, driven by major forces such as digital business and the consumerisation and industrialisation of IT.” Worldwide education sector spending is forecast
