Marriott unveils plan to open 150 Moxy hotels by 2020 Rebekah Commane
Marriott International plans to open 150 Moxy hotels, offering a total of 25,000 rooms, by 2020. The economy brand, which made its debut last year in Milan, will open 11 properties in Germany, the UK, Norway and Denmark by the end of 2016. The first of five hotels in Germany will open near Munich airport’s main terminal by the end of 2015. The brand will add properties in Eschborn, Berlin and Frankfurt next year. Four Moxy hotels will open in the UK next year: two in east

London and one each at Heathrow and Aberdeen airports. In Scandinavia, Moxy hotels will open next year in Exporama, near Oslo airport, and in Copenhagen. The brand will also open eight properties in the US, including in

Starwood to increase European portfolio by 14 properties this year
Starwood Hotels & Resorts will add 14 properties to its portfolio this year, across six brands. As well as the St Regis Istanbul, which launched this month, two Four Points by Sheraton and two Sheraton hotels will open in Turkey. In Russia, one Sheraton and a
Four Points by Sheraton will open. Two Aloft properties will open in Germany, while in Amsterdam, two hotels will launch under the W and Element brands. Sheraton properties are also due to be added in Romania, Italy and Croatia.
