Kenya Airways hopes for better year with new Dreamliners and capacity

Kenya Airways says there are “good reasons to be hopeful” about ex-UK sales this year following the addition of Dreamliners to its fleet and plans to increase flights to destinations outside of Kenya. The airline has taken delivery
of three Dreamliners and has a further three on order, due for delivery in June. It is increasing capacity on the

Kempinski to open doors to seven more properties this year
Kempinski hotel group is due to open seven more hotels this year in addition to two already added. In May, the 138-room
Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden will open in Germany, as will the 350-room Kempinski Hotel Harbin in northeast China. In Accra, Ghana, the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, featuring
about half its Mombasa business last summer following a travel warning by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in May, and has suffered from the impact of the Ebola crisis on travel to Africa. Current FCO travel guidance advises against all but essential travel to Mombasa island. Bruce Watson, sales manager
for the UK and Ireland, said: “We’ve no idea how long the FCO warning will be there. “Kenya demand is down so we
have concentrated on safari and alternatives such as Tanzania, Zanzibar and other parts of Africa. “We have some positive messages for 2015.”

Virgin to fly twice-daily to San Francisco next winter Virgin Atlantic is to increase its winter service between Heathrow and San Francisco to twice-daily from October 24. The new daily flight will depart London at 11.25 and will be operated by the airline’s newest aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. This summer, Virgin will operate a second daily service five times a week between March 29 and October 23.

Hilton to open Curios in Hamburg and Istanbul Hilton will open its first Curio hotels in Europe in Hamburg, this year, and in Istanbul, in 2017. Both will be properties that will be refurbished before opening as Curios, Hilton’s brand of ‘gloriously individual’ hotels.
