Lenses

Ricoh FL series 9MP lenses Ricoh Industrial Solutions has introduced two manual iris lenses compatible with one-inch format cameras at up to nine- megapixel resolution. The lenses have a 42mm compact design and lens distortions have been reduced to be less than 0.1 per cent (TV distortion value), enabling capture of high resolution images right up to the periphery. These lenses will exhibit excellent performance in capturing precision machining products, such as electronic substrates and wafers. The lenses will bring the Ricoh FL series to a total of 45 models, together with the lenses for cameras with 1/3-inch, 1/2-inch and 2/3-inch formats. www.ricoh-mv-security.eu

Thermal imaging cameras

Optical gas imaging camera Flir Systems has released its GF343, an optical gas imaging camera that lets the user detect and visualise CO2

leaks quickly, easily, and from a

safe distance. Reliable, non-contact CO2

detection using

the camera allows plant engineers to inspect equipment while it is still online in the course of normal operation. It also helps keep operations safe while moving towards carbon-neutral capture and storage. The camera uses a cooled indium antimonide (InSb) detector with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. www.flir.com

All-in-one thermal camera Acal BFi has launched an all-in- one thermal camera module. Designed for OEMs and integrators, the ICC-TM640- 105HZ combines the Tamarisk 640 high performance uncooled thermal camera core from DRS Technologies with a 35-105mm 3x zoom lens.

The camera module is ideal for security and

surveillance applications in harsh operating environments It has a high resolution, based on a 640 x 480 pixel, 17µm pitch, uncooled LWIR sensor. The module delivers simultaneous Camera Link digital and analogue PAL at 9 or 25Hz.

The camera also offers a horizontal field of view from 17.1° to 1.5° and optical image stabilisation. www.acalbfi.com

C-mount lenses

Basler has begun series production of its C-mount lenses. Basler developed its original equipment line to match the precise specification of its cameras, ensuring harmony between the components. The lenses will be produced exclusively for Basler and be available only from Basler. The lenses are engineered for sensors smaller than 1/2-inch and optimised for use with Basler Ace and Dart cameras.

The high five-megapixel resolution gives sharp images. The lenses are optimally suited to machine vision applications and offer an excellent price/ performance ratio.

Basler has updated its lens selector website

to make it easier to find the right lens for a Basler area scan camera.

The lens selector is built around an industrial- grade set of calculations, but from the user standpoint it is simple to navigate. www.baslerweb.com

Lasers for machine vision and inspection

StingRay structured light generating laser

Coherent has released its latest StingRay structured light generating laser. The laser offers up to 50mW of output in the blue (450nm), making it especially advantageous for machine vision applications based on 3D triangulation that involve imaging darker materials. In particular, blue light offers higher reflectivity and increased contrast for a wide range of materials with a dark surface finish, including metals, carbon fibre reinforced polymers (CFRPs) and rubber.

The laser has a line uniformity of ±7.5 per cent and external focusing capability, which translates into increased measurement speed and improved dimensional accuracy in machine vision applications. The new StingRay laser has all the other important features found in longer wavelength StingRay predecessors – including dynamic line

balancing, which enables straightforward correction of intensity variations in the projected line beam when the laser is used at off axis illumination angles. StingRay lasers also feature an internal health monitor that alerts the user to diode end of life, thus allowing for laser replacement to be performed at convenient times, rather than causing unexpected production downtime. www.coherent.com
