BEYOND-OLILLO In the first match of the 1967 finals, Jack Bion- dolillo goes beyond what anyone has seen on a PBA Tour telecast before, becoming the first bowler in PBA history to shoot a 300 game on ABC-TV. (The tournament eventually was won by Jim Stefanich, who beat Don Johnson in a two-frame rolloff after they had tied at 227.)

WAYNE’S WORLD In a round-robin TV playoff system in 1966, Tom Harnish, needing a mark to advance to the title game, leaves a 6-7 split, which knocks him out of contention. It takes a two-frame rolloff be- tween Wayne Zahn and Dave Davis to see who would go on to face the top-seeded Dick Weber. Zahn wins the rolloff, and goes on to win the tournament, set a single-season earnings re- cord, and become Bowler of the Year — the very honor that had gone to Weber the prior year.
