THE SKINNY ON THE LATEST AND GREATEST

51 Hook 15 Length 14 Breakpoint Shape LEGENDS: YEAH BABY

Manufacturer’s Intent: “We wanted to bring back a nostalgic ball with a true twist — a ball with a solid reactive coverstock,” says Legends Vice President of Operations, Tony Martin. “In the past version of this ball, we used the dia- mond particles but never a solid reactive surface. Its sheen finish is reminiscent of the old Lane Masters and Legends balls.”

Core: The Yeah Baby uses the legendary Impact two-piece symmetric weight block. This old faith- ful produced an RG of 2.57 and a differential of .047. We saw about 4 inches of flare.

Coverstock: This Baby is wrapped up with a red, orange and yellow solid reactive coverstock that has a hardness of 75-77. The effective sur- face grit is 4100, with an RA of 4.81.

Overview: The Yeah Baby is a true-blue bench- mark ball that gives you a great read of the lanes. It brings back memories of watching former Team USA member Bill Hoffman tear up the lanes at the High Roller around 2005. The Yeah Baby worked pretty well for us on all three of the pat- terns with its smooth and predictable back-end reaction. We had enough hook out of it on the Stone Street pattern that we could play between the first and second arrows with a good amount of miss room either way and good carry. On the lighter house pattern, we could play closer to the track area as the Baby never overreacted or burned up too soon. On the USBC Doubles/ Singles pattern, we were able stay close to the track and get lined up nicely on the fresh. It made the pattern pretty easy, with hold left and some area to the right. A high rev local player

“THE YEAH BABY IS A TRUE- BLUE BENCHMARK BALL THAT GIVES YOU A GREAT READ OF THE LANES. IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF WATCHING FOR- MER TEAM USA MEMBER BILL HOFFMAN TEAR UP THE LANES”

loved it, because the ball read the midlane and breakpoint so smoothly and predictably. It was definitely consistent off the breakpoint for him as well as for Terrance and me. The Yeah Baby is a true old-school, retro bowling ball. It’s a great benchmark ball for tournament bowlers because it reads the pattern volume and length so well, making it easy for you to judge where you need to play and set your strategy.
