SHOW PREVIEW EMBEDDED WORLD 2015

EMBEDDED WORLD 2015 EMBRACES THE IOT SPECTRUM The main topics at the 2015 E

mbedded world Exhibition & Conference – the world’s biggest

trade fair for embedded technologies with two internationally renowned conferences – once again brings the embedded community to Nürnberg from 24th–26th February 2015. Embedded world 2015 exhibition runs in conjuction with the comprehensive embedded conference, featuring preventions under the theme of “We are the Internet of Things”. The full conference programmes are available online.

conference, which is organised by media partner DESIGN & ELEKTRONIK and accompanied by an international programme committee, are IoT and Security & Safety. Daily keynotes examine the topics from various perspectives. Prominent figures, like Tyson Tuttle, CEO of Silicon Labs, Scott Aylor, Corp VP and GM – Embedded Systems Division at AMD, and Gareth Noyes, Senior Vice President Strategy and Corporate Development at Wind River, speak on their visions and describe future developments and challenges. The conference tackles the Security &

Safety of Embedded Systems on all three days of the event. Always up to date and leading

edge, the event identifies the most topical issue in embedded system development in its basic theme “We are the Internet of Things” (IoT). The basis of the IoT is formed by

intelligently networked embedded systems. Embedded world 2015 presents the latest state of research for the international embedded community and shows the direction of future trends to make this engineering revolution, reality.

IOT AND INDUSTRY 4.0

Avnet Memec will present its large range of solutions and products for IoT, from wired and wireless connectivity, through power management and security, to front-end technologies in sensing and monitoring. As usual the company will also exclusively host the Maxim Integrated Tech Lounge. IoT is a major focus of the show and for the company as European President Steve Haynes explains: “The Internet of Things has grown beyond the hype of recent years, into a platform that will deliver real solutions, real growth, from 2015 onwards. Without doubt there is huge potential, with companies like Cisco predicting that 50 billion ‘things’ will be connected to the Internet by 2020.” As well as an expanded Internet of

INDUSTRIAL-GRADE ATX MAINBOARD

The industrial-grade ATX mainboard D3348-B is the main new product Fujitsu will focus on at Embedded World (hall 2, booth 110). The mainboard is available with Intel processors from the Xeon E5- 2xx [V3], Xeon E5-16xx [V3], and Core i7 58xx/59xx series. The board features DDR4 memory technology, that is claimed to offer significant performance increases compared to previous generations. The secret of the board is that it is not based on the X99 chipset,

but the C612 chipset by Intel. The C612 chipset is particularly suitable for industrial applications because it supports Intel Standard Manageability and Intel vPro technology for remote management as

well as Trusted Execution Technology (TXT). Furthermore, the chipset provides optimised support for Xeon processors and ECC memory. Long-term availability of the Fujitsu D3348-B mainboard, an aspect of particular importance for embedded applications, is ensured by the fact that the C612 chipset is likely to remain available until 2021. The X99 chipset, on the other hand, is expected to be discontinued in 2016. By using solid capacitors, Fujitsu can specify the D3348-B for a service life of 45,000 hours in 24/7

continuous operation. In tests carried out by the company, comparable products with aluminium capacitors only reached a service life of 12,000 hours. Another factor contributing to the long service life of this board is the smart design. The low total number of components employed on the board and the use of high- efficiency voltage transformers also reduce heat generation, thus improving service conditions.

Embedded World will see the launch of IQD’s new atomic clock stability GPS frequency reference. The new IQFR-100 high precision GPS frequency reference delivers a frequency accuracy of < ±1E- 12 after a period of 24-hours stable satellite signal lock. Intended primarily for use in applications such as communications systems, power grid references, national defence equipment and smart metering, the system is designed to operate in conjunction with either a GPS or Compass satellite signal.

LPRS LAUNCHES IOT CLOUD BASED SERVICES PARTNERSHIP

LPRS will be collaborating at Embedded World 2015 with its new IoT cloud services partner ESL (Eurosoft Systems), a provider of secure cloud solutions and services. The two companies have recently agreed a strategic partnership that they claim will “add value” to the LPRS easyRadio wireless modules. The companies point out this comes in response to demands for turnkey solutions for IoT applications rather than having to design-in wireless components and then find gateway and cloud-enabling technologies. ESL Smart Solutions has been formed as a

subsidiary of ESL to specifically address cloud- based solutions for M2M and the Internet of

Things. By leveraging ESL’s established EventMan Cloud platform and bringing together best-of- breed hardware components ESL is able to offer a full consultative and technology service. Solutions can be hosted by ESL or managed internally by clients or partners on their own infrastructure. LPRS is sponsoring a giveaway of three

EventMan Cloud platforms including a one month complimentary cloud service package to potential users when they register their “Special Ticket” at the stand. To register for your ticket visit: http://goo.gl/3Ck5St
