INTERCONNECTION ADVERTORIAL

New Micro USB 3.0 Available from Selwyn S

elwyn Electronics is pleased to announce the release of its new Micro USB 3.0 range of connectors and cable assemblies. This new USB standard is the latest addition to the

CombiTac connector system from Multi-Contact. The modular connector can be configured with or without signal contacts, and is compliant with rail industry standards. The panel mount connectors are ideal for use with rackable, slide-in battery packs where blind connection is necessary. This is helped by alignment tolerances of 3 degrees and +/- 1 mm through standard CombiTac guiding end pieces. A typical configuration has two 12 mm diameter power contacts and 12 1.6 mm signal contacts for monitoring battery parameters such as temperature. Various sizes of power contacts can accept a wide range of cable cross-sections, and a make first / break last pilot contact can also be included. The rated insulation voltage is up to 3700 V, depending on pollution degree and overvoltage category. Withstand voltages are 12 kV on signal contacts and 8 kV on power contacts. Rated current is up to 400 A, and IP2X touch protection is up to 1000 V. The operating temperature is from -40degC to +120degC.

USB range of interconnect options, and is now been utilised on some of the most recent tablets and mobile phones. This new connector standard consists of a standard Micro USB connector with an additional 5 contact connector alongside. This new connector offers faster data rates, potentially giving faster transfer times for large data

attery packs used on rolling stock and other rail applications can now be connected using the

files. It also provides faster battery charging as this new connector can handle 900mA, whereas the Micro USB connector can only handle 500mA. The larger size may not make it suitable for all handheld applications but this will give engineers another option when selecting a connector, particularly if the transmission speed and current capacity are important factors.

New LEMO 12-way 0B connector 9.5mm diameter being introduced at SME.

EMO is showcasing its latest products and initiatives at the show, producing even smaller connectors whilst maintaining or improving connector performance, along with products from newly-acquired specialist cable manufacturer, Industries.

L Northwire

Northwire offer special cables to customer requirements in small quantities and on a fast turn-round, thus complementing the range of connectors and enabling LEMO UK to offer customers complete custom connection solutions, including overmoulded assemblies. Northwire have many years

experience of manufacturing cables for a wide range of industries, including Medical, Test & Measurement, Defence, Robotics and Automation. Quality approvals include ISO9001 and AS9100C. Consequently LEMO have firstly been able to squeeze 5 contacts each rated to 1.5A into their tiny 00 series which is only 6mm diameter, making it ideal for communications and other equipment where very small yet tough connectors are required for handling signals.

requirements of printed circuit boards and the need for a smaller board footprint. Ideal for use by data center equipment manufacturers and power supply manufacturers as well as in energy storage systems, these low profile power

connectors offer flexible power delivery to PCBs enabling a variety of layout choices. The heat dissipating design of RadFin dramatically helps reduce T-rise with minimal air-flow required. The space- saving RadFin is offered in right angle mating planes as single-point contact terminals making them versatile when component placement is crucial.

transmission of larger quantities of data. Ethernet technology, which has been established in offices for some time now, is used in various industrial BUS connections. In addition to the connectors defined for industrial applications, the standard RJ45 connector, too, must be adapted to its environment in a better way. The overmould with integrated locking lever protection - designed by CONEC - forms a compact transition between the connector and the cable for industrial use. Offering also optimized strain relief and improved dust protection at the cable termination.
