MS Electronics Ltd (MMS-e) has available an exceptionally


versatile line of alphanumeric and


graphic displays. These displays with optional backlights are specially designed for handheld low power applications and operate from a single +3.3V or +5V supply. This system allows displays to be personalised by the combination of various display technologies (positive/negative, blue, green, black) with the different backlights (white, blue, amber, yellow/green, red, dual colour Green/Red and full RGB). Simply clip the display and the backlight unit together and create many possible combinations.


Currently these


displays are available in 1x8, 2x16, 3x16 and 4x20 lines x characters. Thanks to the chip-on-glass technology the overall height is only 2mm and with the LED backlight the height is only 5.8mm. These chip-on-glass displays can be soldered


directly into the PCB without any further


assembly. These displays are easy readable with 12mm characters for EA DOGM081, 5.6mm EA DOGM162, 3.6mm EA DOGM163 and 4.8mm EA DOGM204. Choice of four interfaces: 4/8 bit, SPI and I2C (I2C 4x20 only). All modules are standard and available from stock.

These can be configured to operate as absolute encoders (for position measurement tasks), as incremental encoders (ideal for monitoring speed of rotation), or as hybrid encoders that can measure absolute position and rate of rotation simultaneously.

he new SICK W2S family delivers powerful sub- miniature photoelectric positioning sensing for today’s most difficult packaging materials – even matt black. The slim housing allows convenient mounting within tight spaces demanded by compact machinery. this size and price range. The sophisticated background suppression software ensures high reliability and consistency whether detecting jet black, brightly-coloured, matt, transparent or highly reflective objects. The four models in the SICK W2S sensors range are contained in a rugged IP67 rated housing that measures only 7.7 X 21.8 X 13.5 mm. The double-sealed 45o offset cable entry minimises environmental ingress and reduces accidental damage during operation. The latest PinPoint LED ensures a high-visibility light spot at sensing ranges up to three metres and can be adjusted on the unit by a three turn potentiometer. It is complemented by the high sensitivity 128 pixel array detector, ensuring unparalleled sensitivity and capability. There is no range difference in black or white surface detection (B/W shift). The tightly-focussed spot offers precise leading edge detection and widely visible LEDs indicate
