securely hold the card assembly in place, eliminating tooling costs in most implementations. This provides a uniform retention force across the products entire length to continually protect cards subject to extreme shock and vibration typically found in rugged and harsh computing environments. The lightweight design facilitates conduction cooling by transferring heat from a circuit card to a cold plate or to an enclosure’s extruded side walls, and makes the 325 Series highly useful in compact, mobile applications as well. The first of several models and styles, the 325 Series features a
0.250" by 0.260" nominal cross-section, with a guaranteed minimum expansion to 0.325". The new series is available in custom lengths from 2.15" to 12.99". Other options include hex drive style, mounting holes and types, length and finishes as well as a visual indicator, a locking element or a captive feature, if required.

SHIELDED ENCLOSURES
A range of shielded enclosures has been released by Saelig Company, Inc. to provide RF protection for communication and electronics equipment. The Socom EMI-proof shielding solution prevents external electromagnetic or RF sources from penetrating into a sensitive environment that might otherwise be subject to interference or detection. These units have been designed for special operations field use where light weight is essential: the 4' by 4' by 5'4" shelter in its bag weighs a mere 21lbs.

LUG ENCLOSURE
Bespoke enclosures from Verotec have been used to house critical switching and interfacing equipment by London Underground. One of LUG’s System Integrators
needed application-specific housings for a system upgrade; the requirements, specifications and concept sketches were supplied to Verotec. The company offered its TecServ+ operation, which incorporates design, engineering, project management, compliance testing and solution manufacture. The company initially produced 3-D
model files and detailed manufacturing drawings for review. Once approved, initial physical concept prototypes, supplied unfinished to reduce costs and time, were produced. Following customer evaluation, modified versions of the original prototypes were signed off for production, and Verotec supplied the first batch within the required short lead time. The TecServ+ operation is
particularly useful in turning a rough concept requirement into a physical product. Tim Armstrong, Verotec Commercial Director, said, “We have a huge amount of experience in turning an idea into reality. In this case, by working closely with our customer from the inception of the project through to the final manufacture, we were able to provide them with a bespoke enclosure design on time and within budget.”

UNSEALED VERSION
Okw’s metal enclosures division Metcase has launched an unsealed version of its Unidesk sloping front terminal enclosures. These aluminium instrument
enclosures are designed for desktop use but can also be wall mounted. Applications include office systems, point of sale terminals, industrial control, medical devices, security and machine controllers. They are normally supplied with
IP54 sealing gaskets but specifying the new version without seals makes them more cost effective - if sealing is not required.
These robust and ergonomic cases are supplied pre-assembled. Features include a recessed front panel for a membrane keypad, pre-punched PCB fixing points in the base plus a flat rear wall for installing switches, connectors, power inlets and cable glands.
