the shortlist are invitedtomake a presentationtothe judges andanswer questions.Wehave a teamofmore than 40 judgesmadeupof specialists from PwC, the teamat SupplyChainStandard, andleading supply chainprofessionals. Intheprocess the judges look for five


commoncharacteristics ofhigh performing supply chains – the five core disciplines.These are: 1.Does your supply chainhelpto


deliver competitive advantage to your company – or is it a cost ofdoing business? 2.Are yourprocesses andsystems


streamlinedandintegratedacross the end-to-endsupply chain– or are they


complex andfragmented? 3. Is the supply chainorganisation


structuredandstaffedfor success – or is it anadminfunctionstaffedwiththe deadweights? 4.Have youbuilt a collaborative


operatingmodelwitha clear understanding of your core competencies – or are youa jack of all trades andamaster ofnone? 5.Have youa clearunderstanding of


howtomeasure success andis the organisationincentivisedtodeliver it – ordo youmeasure everything anddo nothingwithit? If the entrywas for a special category –


for example Sourcing andProcurement, orCustomer Service there is less emphasis givento the coredisciplines andmore emphasis to the relative performance andachievement of eachof the finalists. Inaddition, the judges give special attentionto thedemonstrationof innovationandthe commitment, passionandenthusiasmof entrants.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer aged between 13 and 24. It funds and builds specialist units in NHS hospitals and provides dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.
