SUMMARY BC also enjoyed three of the most thrilling contests in pro-
gram history this season. First, by a score of 14 to 10, the Cru- saders upset national powerhouse St. Edward of Ohio, a team that had been previously ranked No. 1 in the nation prior to their meeting at Overpeck Park. BC then completed a miracle finish against rival St. Joseph Regional, handing the Green Knights a 37–34 loss in double overtime in Montvale. And if those two wins weren’t satisfying enough for the Crusader faithful, BC earned their greatest win of the regular season with a thrilling 10–3 victory over Don Bosco Prep in front of over 4,000 fans at Crusader Stadium. overall in the Big North United Division as well as producing a pair of second-place finishes in the Newark Academy Invita- tional and the prestigious Maymont Invitational held in Rich- mond, Virginia. A strong BC senior class of distance runners, including
Matt Morano ’15, Tom Selvaggi ’15, Mike Sondej ’15, Chris Sheldon ’15, and Pat Ryan ’15, led the Crusaders throughout the season. A very talented sophomore class led by Caleb Shaia ’17, Billy Rabah ’17, and Connor Secora ’15 will be ones to watch in the near future for a BC cross country program on the rise in Bergen County.

progressed, as senior running back Corey Russo ’15, and jun- ior quarterback Jarrett Guarantano ’16 became a dangerous of- fensive duo from the BC backfield. Seniors Corey Gaarn ’15 andMike Aniello ’15, along with junior Gene Coleman ’16, de- veloped into dangerous receiving threats in big games down the field helping to lead BC back to the postseason for the 37th time in the last 40 seasons.

Football Once again the BC football team embarked on one of the
most demanding regular-season schedules in the nation, and the Crusaders did not disappoint on the national stage. BC went undefeated against out-of-state competition, toppling Pennsylvania power LaSalle College High School and travel- ing down South to hand Arkansas state champion Bentonville High School a rare home loss.

The young Crusaders produced another deep run in the Bergen County Tournament, ad- vancing to the semifinal round, and claimed several impressive wins against some of New Jersey’s best programs while com- peting in the highly competitive Big North United Division. The Crusaders routinely relied upon the scoring efforts of
Miles Franklyn ’17, Peter Berkanish ’16, and Sotiri Econopouly ’16 during the season, and the BC defense was led by Cameron Zamanian ’15 and goalkeeper Michael Payan ’15. With a solid nucleus of young and experienced varsity
players, the BC soccer program will be considered one of the favorites for league and county titles in the years to come.
