academic performance to the all-round university experience, both in and out of the classroom. Working alongside
universities, Campus Living Villages (CLV) has played a vital role in enabling institutions to answer this shift in demand. CLV takes a partnership approach to provide accommodation solutions that offer the university, and its students, a community that can enhance their student experience allowing them to live, learn and grow.
Living, learning communities Facilities are designed to encourage social interaction, support study success, cater for resident events and provide opportunities to develop life skills. CLV has recently expanded its portfolio, and as part of this expansion has upgraded a number of properties and facilities. Particular focus has been placed on upgrading social spaces that allow for individual and group study as well as social activities. During the redevelopment

and a particular set of life skills that are vital when entering the world of work. In addition CLV also offers
students, across its property portfolio, the opportunity to opt into its V Plus Coordinator Offering them much more than the range of discounts that form the core of this, the social aspects of becoming a member are hugely beneficial. V Plus Coordinators are present at each campus, organising and delivering events, days out, parties and other social dates that help new and returning students complete their overall student experience.
Future Plans More recently, CLV partnered with the Royal College of Music (RCM) and has begun development on its West London site, Prince Consort Village. Comprising 417 bedrooms,
“Actively seeking more for their money, the student focus has now shifted from academic performance

of the University of Salford Student Village site in 2012, key requirements were identified to help enhance the student experience. As a result, particular atention was paid to upgrading the communal social spaces, including an area with a pool table and SkyTV. Lounges with Xbox and Wii game consoles, an onsite gym, basketball courts, and a communal kitchen with a demonstration area were also included. Group study spaces and a personal study space within each student’s room were installed throughout the site to support students in their academic pursuits. Commited to redeveloping its new
sites along with its current stock, a complete refit of the social spaces within the Bedfordshire, Greenwich and Bournemouth sites were undertaken, along with additional updates to other properties’ – with the students flourishing as a result. Demonstrating a commitment to its relationship with university partners,
music practice rooms were installed for the 180 students already atending the music Conservatoire at Birmingham City University. Essential to their course requirements, the acoustically designed rooms are available to students 24/7, fully supporting their need to be creative and study requirements. Similarly, occupants at the Greenwich
campus are able to use the communal kitchens to not only develop healthy eating and culinary skills, but also strengthen social relationships. Events such as dinner parties, cooking challenges and other activities have become regular fixtures on the social calendar with content regularly shared with other CLV members across social media. Not just contained within the kitchens,
other amenities at the campus include professional meeting spaces, fully equipped with the latest AV facilities. These spaces allow the students to develop confidence within a professional seting,
Prince Consort Village will offer students new facilities such as social spaces with lounge, dining and gaming areas, as well as a screening room, study rooms, and external courtyards. To support RCM music
students in their academic pursuits, customised facilities will also be installed at Prince Consort Village. The planned site will have 23
dedicated music practice rooms that are available 24 hours a day, informal performance spaces and all bedrooms will be acoustically treated to allow students to practise in their rooms without the worry of disturbing others. This is specifically important to the students that atend the RCM, allowing them to enrich their study, and have the best possible student experience with peers who share their passion. CLV hopes that this model of
partnership will continue to grow in its existing projects as well as any future business as the market develops further. Through these living, learning communities participating universities will be able to reassure students that they take their future prospects seriously, seting them up for success. UB
