PRODUCTS ELECTRONICA PREVIEW NEW PCB DESIGN TOOL
Mouser Electronics, Inc. has launched its new PCB design integration tool MultiSIM Blue. Designed in collaboration with National Instruments Co., this all-new PCB design integration
tool utilises the Berkeley SPICE engine and includes a preloaded component library of over 100,000 frequently used components from multiple Mouser databases. The tool facilitates real-time BOM price quotes and component database updates enhance the creative design engineering efficiency. The tool supports pre- layout design convergence analysis and mixed-signal simulation, and can handle components as complex as BGAs with over 1000 pins on pin-pitches down to 0.8mm. The tool provides a 3-D visualisation of the PCB with no limits on the shape and size of the PCB, thereby enabling innovative, forward-looking design. The new platform has an array of features including a built-in
library that has over 100,000 components; including Mouser authorised components. Whilst the 0.8mm layout sizing fully enables high-precision component design. The PCB layout function is compatible with standard output file types including Gerber 274X and 274D, DXF, 3D DXF, 3 D INES and IPC-D-356A Netlist for easy design output and verification. The tool uses the same simulation analysis technologies that
are utilised in MultiSIM software developed by NI. It is supported by BSIM and other advanced parameters for seamless functional simulation of linear circuits. Mouser provides real-time MultiSIM BLUE parts database updates, providing makers with around- the-clock continuous technical support.

MICRO PLC FOR INDUSTRY 4.0
Engineers can now meet the higher resolution, distributed control requirements of Industry 4.0 industrial factory automation designs, while using less power, with the MAXREFDES60# 16-bit analogue output system from Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. The trend of Industry 4.0
marks a move of factory systems away from large, centralised programmable logic controllers (PLCs) toward modular, decentralised Micro PLCs that promise to provide better efficiency and flexibility. Operating at less than 250mW, the new reference module gives Micro PLC designs an ultra-low-power, highly accurate analogue output in an ultra-small form factor approximately the size of a credit card. The highly integrated device is a complete system design that
includes a microcontroller and an isolated power architecture. Users can simply plug the MAXREFDES60# into a computer via USB, apply power, and begin evaluation within minutes. Key Advantages include an ultra-low power at 0V to 10V output
voltage with a typical power consumption of 240mW enabled by the efficient, isolated 24V power supply. PR 20/2014 EN September 2014 along with high accuracy at 16-bit and precise
analogue output with error less than 0.05% over the entire range. The solution is highly integrated and combines a microcontroller,
DAC, power supply, voltage reference, and digital isolator for quick implementation. Magnetically immune data isolation prevents data corruption. Maxim Integrated Products Inc.
