This meeting is a follow-up to the FPAW meeting held at last fall’s NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition, where the government agencies shared with the broader aviation-weather community of interest the status of “NextGen Weather,” with a focus on activities related to Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) between the operator community and the FAA. In this follow-up meeting, the CDM community will have an opportunity to provide feedback to the Agencies on the overall plans and activities for air traffic management (ATM) and weather communities working together to mitigate the impacts of weather in the NAS in the short-term (12-36 months).

Demystifying Aircraft Accounting and Budgeting Location: Orange County Convention Center, Room S320E Education Track: Aviation Management and Aircraft Ownership Presented by: Dave Weil, Flight Dept Solutions, LLC and Nel Stubbs, Conklin & de Decker This Session is eligible for CAM application and recertification credit. This Session will take the mystery out of budgeting and accounting for your aircraft. It will provide guidance on how to create “flexible” budgets for varying levels of aircraft activity. In addition, Attendees will learn about suggested cost categories to use when setting up an aircraft accounting system. Finally, they will identify key data elements that are necessary to track for tax and regulatory compliance.
9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. Implementing Weather Technology in the Cockpit (WTIC) Location: Orange County Convention Center,
Room S320C/D Education Track: Aircraft and Flight Operations Presented by: Gary Pokodner, Federal Aviation Administration This Session is eligible for CAM application and recertification credit. The first part of this session will provide an overview of the research being done by the FAA’s WTIC program to identify gaps in GA cockpit MET information and technology that have a potential to be a causal factor in a future GA weather-related accident. The briefing will highlight gaps that have been identified with current commercial technology and information products. This portion of the session will also provide an overview of ongoing gap analyses to identify additional gaps. The second part of the session will be a discussion with a goal to propose better processes for disseminating WTIC research results to industry and to getting the WTIC recommendations incorporated into commercial products without implementing standards or other requirements that will likely increase costs.

Ashley Smith Jr., Jet Logistics and David T. Norton, Shackelford, Melton, McKinley & Norton, LLP Despite knowing the FARs backwards and forwards, do you still find yourself running into roadblocks when seeking approvals from the FAA? The FARs are just the tip of the iceberg. Experts on the NBAA’s Domestic Operations Committee will explain how knowing not only the regulations but FAA Order 8900.1 and other related guidance can help you more effectively meet requirements and work efficiently with your FSDO.
