Lufthansa has unveiled a new long-haul premium economy class, available to passengers from December 10 and now on sale. The carrier will install the new seats on its entire fleet of 106 long-haul aircraft within 12 months. The seats are wider and offer 50% more legroom than economy and recline 130 degrees. Premium economy passengers will be allowed a second check-in bag without charge, receive a welcome drink and amenity kit, eat from an “upgraded” menu and enjoy a larger entertainment screen than economy passengers. Seats will be priced at about one-third of the difference between economy and business-class fares. Lufthansa will install premium economy across its Boeing 747-800 fleet, completing the refurbishment by December when seats will be available on routes including Bangalore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul. Lufthansa’s new seats recline 130 degrees
The new class is ideal for leisure travellers on a higher budget and business travellers not flying business class
seats will vary from 21 on Lufthansa’s smallest aircraft to 52 on its Airbus A380s. There will be 32 on the 747-800s.
Lufthansa UK general manager Christian Schindler said: “The new class will be ideal for leisure travellers on a higher budget and business travellers restricted from flying business class.” The carrier is offering premium economy promotional fares from £719 to Bangalore, £889 to Hong Kong and Beijing and £989 to Singapore between now and October 7, for travel between December 10 and August 31, 2015.

Celebrity offers credit for on-board bookings
Celebrity Cruises is looking to drive the number of cruises booked by passengers on ships by offering up to $500 on-board credit. The agent who booked the initial cruise will get commission for the second booking. Passengers will be able to
receive the credit instantly for their current sailing or transfer it to their next cruise. The offer, available on all
Celebrity Cruises ships, can also be combined with one of the benefits from the line’s 123Go! promotion,
which offers a choice of a free Classic Beverage Package, free gratuities or up to $300 in additional on-board credit. Jo Rzymowska, Celebrity Cruises’ managing director for the UK and Ireland, said: “By booking a future cruise on-board, passengers can decide when they would like to receive their credit, now or later – it’s up to them.” The future booking is flexible
and can be altered at a later date. Deposits range from $50 to $500.
