METALCASTING SUPPLIES

Remote-Controlled Demolition Machine

Silicon Carbide Degassing Rotors

Morgan Advanced Materials, Windsor, Cornwall, England, has launched a new generation of degassing rotors for second- ary aluminum processing applications. Te one-piece silicon carbide degassing rotors offer an alternative to the graphite material traditionally used for this task. Te pres- ence of gas and other particles inside metal castings can negatively impact appearance and performance by decreasing component strength and density, making effective degassing integral to the casting process. Te one-piece silicon carbide degassing

rotors are available in a range of diameters with shaft lengths up to 3.9 ft. (1.2m). Visit www.morganmms.com for more information.

Hot Gas Baffle for Furnace Cleaning

Te Brokk 100 from Brokk Inc., Skel- lefteå, Sweden, weighs just 2,183 lbs. and stands less than 4 ft. tall by 2.5 ft. wide. Operators can maneuver the machine through buildings, confined spaces and openings as narrow as 31 in. Its three-piece arm can reach as far as 12.1 ft. and as high as 14.1 ft. It also can be used with a variety of breaker, grapple and scabbler at- tachments. Te unit is powered by a 20-horsepower, 32-amp motor for safe, emissions-free operation in

enclosed areas. Visit www.brokk.com for more information.

Grinding Wheels for Steel, Iron

Norton Abrasives, Worcester, Mass., a brand of Saint-Gobain Abrasives, introduced an upgrade to its Norton Gemini RightCut Wheels. Te wheels are 100% aluminum oxide abrasive with a bond and process for a thinner wheel design and low kerf loss. Te 0.045-in. wheels produce less material waste and require less pressure when cutting than previous versions. Norton Gemini RightCut wheels are a cost-effective cut-off solution for portable, guarded right angle grinders and are ideal for numerous metal slotting and cut off applications including bolts and studs, angle iron, tubing and sheet metal in a variety of materials rang- ing from carbon to stainless steel. Type 01 (4-7 in.) and Type 27 (4-9

in.) wheels are available. Visit www.nortonindustrial.com for more information.

Te StrikoWestofen Group, Gummersbach, Germany, has developed a heat- resistant shaft cover. Tis “hot gas baffle” shortens the melting-free process during furnace cleaning by approximately 20 minutes. Te hot gas baffle reduces the energy consumption during the melting-free process by about 15% and increases the overall efficiency of the system by 5%. StrikoWestofen has developed the hot gas baffle to withstand exhaust gas temperatures that develop during the melting- free process. Te fire-resistant shaft cover is available for all StrikoMelter melting

furnaces and also can be retrofitted to existing systems. Visit www.strikowestofen.com for more information.
