Carnival to host interactive webinar training sessions Hollie-Rae Merrick
Carnival Cruise Lines is overhauling its training by introducing new interactive webinars. The cruise line currently offers
standard PowerPoint-based webinars, but from next month the sales team, including head of sales Iain Baillie, will host live webinars. The webinars will stream
footage of the sales team, who will be able to answer questions live as agents watch and interact, Baillie said. “We just wanted to do
things a bit differently and make it more interesting for agents,” he explained. “It’s a fresh and fun approach. This is all part of the Carnival training live experience where we like to work with agents in a bespoke way that works for their businesses. “The first Carnival
Live webinar will be in September and it will connect with agents in a more visual way, with the Carnival

sales team transported into their respective places of work.” The line is rewarding agents who participate in the webinars and the Carnival Passport scheme with the chance to win shopping vouchers and Kindles. Last month the sales team
trained more than 500 agents face-to-face and Baillie is keen to make that a monthly target. “The feedback has been
extremely positive and we have a clear message that we are open for business for all agents with a desire to sell cruise.” To sign up for the training, email

Crystal Symphony’s $20m revamp will add ‘fitness garden’
Crystal Cruises is set to create an outdoor fitness garden on Crystal Symphony when it goes into drydock later this year. The fitness garden and indoor fitness centre will be created when the 922-passenger ship undergoes a $20 million revamp. Decks seven, eight and 12 at the back of the ship will be redesigned into a multi-level outdoor “garden of fitness”. The 19-day drydock will also include a makeover of the Crystal Plaza and Cove Bar, as well as the spa, salon and Bistro Cafe.
