Use your shoulder to protect your stick from your defender as you dodge hard around the crease. Make sure your stick stays as close to your body as possible so the defender can’t get the check off.


My fi rst option is to keep my head up to see if one of my teammates is cutting to the ball. If she’s not open, I’m going to take my lane.


Dodge in as close to the crease as possible. Since your defender can go in the crease, try to trip her over by the back of the cage, so that if she does have to jump over the net, you have that one step faster than she does.


Watch her hips, fake her to go one way and then dodge the opposite way to try to catch her off guard.


If a defender slides as you roll to the front of the cage, look to your teammate who now should be open and cutting to


It’s all about the quickness of your feet. If you catch her going one way and you split really fast the opposite way, get that extra step as you go around the crease.
