BEST FOR YOUNG FAMILIES Disney Cruise Line 2 3
What child doesn’t get excited about the thought of meeting Mickey Mouse or Cinderella? Disney’s fleet allows children to
live out their fairytale dreams at sea, with countless characters making an appearance along the way. Disney Magic, which will sail from Dover next year, recently underwent a revamp and now boosts new waterslides and children’s clubs. Philippa Peters, of Bath Travel, says Disney “provides a sense of fantasy for all the family”.
Norwegian Cruise Line
Its waterslides let children race one another to the bottom and the kids’ clubs will have them doing arts and crafts all day long. But
that’s not all: Norwegian’s Cirque du Jour teaches children cool tricks such as plate spinning and juggling, while its partnership with Nickelodeon means they get the chance to run around with SpongeBob SquarePants. Dougie Muir of Stewart Travel says: “Staff are so switched on parents never need to worry.”
P&O Cruises
Starting your holiday in Southampton is a lot easier than trawling through an airport if you’re a parent with young tots in tow. Agents described the ex-UK cruises as a godsend and claimed its value for money made P&O an even more attractive proposition for parents. The line’s four family-focused cruise ships – Azura, Aurora, Oceana and Ventura – offer children’s clubs for youngsters aged two to 17 and there are myriad activities for all ages. Lesley Clements of GoCruise says the night nursery is a big bonus for parents.
4 Carnival Cruise Lines 5
What better way to cool off after running around under the Caribbean sun than by being drenched in Carnival WaterWorks,
the line’s on-board water park? But where do you head once you’ve finished whizzing around the waterslides? For Green Eggs and Ham, of course! The line’s partnership with Dr Seuss means children can meet the characters and enjoy the dish he loves best. Carnival is known for Switching on the Fun and its Camp Carnival clubs mean children can play and eat together while their parents enjoy themselves elsewhere.
