CRAZY FOR QUÉBEC

MY CANADA Welcome to A home from home!

DENISE HUNN Manager, Canada Portfolio, Prestige Holidays

Prestige Holidays’ Denise Hunn liked Canada so much that she emigrated there! Now her ‘perfect job’ takes her back to a country she feels 'passionate' about

MY

Canada is…. a land of incredible diversity.

Where else in the world can you, in a single 14-night itinerary, walk on a glacier, take one of the world’s great rail journeys, see wildlife such as orcas and grizzly bears, experience First Nations culture and enjoy the heritage and history of 100 different nationalities all in one fantastic country? Canada is quite simply an amazing country, with a huge range of landscapes and scenery, experiences and cultures. Moreover, it is safe, good value for

money and, in my opinion, one of those few countries that everyone simply must visit at least once in their lifetime.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS I first visited in1982. I liked what I saw and I emigrated out there! I lived in Calgary for 12 years; I have Canadian citizenship and am still passionate about the country. Today I feel like I am I living my dream: not only do I get to talk about Canada every day I get to visit it too!

Pics from left: Canada's Arctic North is on Denise's wish list; time for refl ection at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge; whale watching in Newfoundland

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW CANADA? I have done plenty of touring in Western Canada and on the coast. When I lived out there, I did a lot of travelling. I have also visited Ontario, Québec, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS The experience I would most like to do again is viewing polar bears. I did this in Churchill and it was such a beautiful and amazing experience, I had always wanted to do it and it certainly disappoint. But, really, I never get bored returning to places in Canada because there is always something different to see and do. Vancouver, for example, has new things since the last time I visited, like the FlyOver Canada, which takes you on a 'flying experience' across Canada's regions. Wildlife is definitely one of Canada’s main selling points. Brits want to see bears and whales and there are so many ways in Canada that you can do this.

WISH LIST? At the very top of my list is the

“Canada has a huge range of landscapes and scenery,

experiences and cultures. It is safe, good value for money and, in my opinion, one of those few countries that everyone simply must visit at least once in their lifetime"

Canadian Arctic. But I would also like to see more of Atlantic Canada, particularly Newfoundland.

SALES TIP Canada is far different to many of the old but lingering stereotypes that describe it as cold, dull and expensive. It is vibrant, cosmopolitan, and affordable and, for what you see and get, is good value for money. Also, the air fare is a big part of the expense of getting to Canada so clients should make the most of the experience: if you are going to Toronto, add on Niagara Falls and a trip to Algonquin Park; if you are in Montréal see the pretty villages of the Laurentian Mountains; and if you are in the Maritimes try to visit more than just the one province.

PARTNERSHIPS The Prestige product has changed a lot over the years and, because Canada has so much to offer, has become

more far-reaching. No two travellers want the same experiences so we tailor each holiday and ask our agents many questions to make sure we get the holiday right for their clients.
