NEWS Granger's
Strengthens its team with new appointments
Leading footwear, clothing and tent aftercare specialist Granger's, is
pleased to announce the appointment of a new Laboratory Manager and a Product and Design Assistant. Following a significant period of growth, Granger's has strengthened its team to aid further development and expansion of the business.
Talking about exhibitions, this is becoming an increasingly cluttered and
confusing area. In the UK, there are now at least 5 existing shows where footwear has a place whilst overseas, there are more than 9 different events each season spread across Europe, the States and the Far East.
In some cases, just to add to the complexity of it all, dates clash or overlap.
Support from the Government in the form of UKTI export grants is variable from show to show and constant changes in policy and the levels of financial support mean it is a challenge for companies and trade bodies like the BFA, to plan with confidence on an annual basis.
The BFA has the role of guiding exporting companies (who make up over
70% of our 160 member companies) through these minefields. The value of persevering is obvious from the growth of UK footwear exports, which have soared from 47m pairs in 2009 to 143m pairs in 2013.
But despite all the pit falls and challenges, feedback from overseas
exhibition confirms the world is interested in, and wants to buy British branded footwear, which is perceived as high quality and well designed.
David Feeney David Feeney has been appointed as the new Technical Manager,
overseeing Granger's product development and being in charge of the laboratory for quality control and testing, as well as working with international customers to provide technical training and material.
An Ergonomics Graduate, David joined Grangers in 2012 as a Quality
Assurance & Development Technician before taking on the role as Technical Manager. A former Great Britain International Athlete, David competes at a national level in the 110m hurdles in his spare time.
It is established BFA strategy to support our key international exhibitions
with a range of focused marketing activities targeting international buyers, agents and distributors.
The aim is to ‘prime the pumps’ ahead of each show to ensure maximum
interest in British Footwear and to assist UK brands to be recognized and help them to reach out to the international buyers and meet potential business partners.
For a single brand this is an almost impossible task as part of a focused British group effort the BFA has shown the challenge is a whole lot easier.
