Somewhere between a ‘30s Cuban dance orchestra, a classical chamber ensemble, a samba parade in Rio, and Japanese film noir lays Pink Martini. The eclectic, acoustic-oriented sounds of Portland, Oregon’s 12-member “little orchestra” reels off magical ballads, syncopated tangos, spitfire ditties, and dreamy love songs in a mix that’s “swiftly intoxicating and elegantly chilled” (Telegraph). Led by Artistic Director Thomas Lauderdale and lead singer-songwriter China Forbes, Pink Martini takes melodies and rhythms from around the world to create something new and beautiful.
