❙ Sun Capital portfolio company Coveris has announced the integration of Kubetech Custom Molding (formerly Rexam’s Home and Perconal Care business) and the creation of a new Rigid Packaging North America business unit. KubeTech has six plants in the US and claims to be the US leader in cube and stack mould design and production. Coveris was formed by the combination of ExoPack, Britton Group, Kobusch, Paccor and Paragon Print. ❙ Chinese plastic tableware maker Taizhou Fuling Plastics is to set up its first US-based manufacturing operation at Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. The company, which operates three factories in China, has taken a lease on an 8,000m2

Schulman acquires Ferro’s Specialty Plastics units


A Schulman has agreed to buy most of the Specialty Plastics business of Ferro Corporation, including four facilities in the US and its operations in Spain, for $91m. The deal is expected to close


before the end of Schulman’s current fiscal year (31 August 2014). It does not include Ferro’s plastics business and opera- tions at Edison in New Jersey, US or at Carabobo in Venezuela. Schulman had attempted to


acquire the entire Ferro operation in 2013. The Specialty Plastics business is a global supplier of custom engineered plastic compounds, colorants, and liquid coatings (the latter primarily focused on thermoset technology).
