EV firm selects Makrolon


North American electric vehicle charging network provider ChargePoint is using fire retardant polycarbonate resins from Bayer MaterialScience to mould the top cap, plug holsters and front panels for its CT4201 bollard charging stations. ChargePoint selected a


Makrolon 6487 grade of PC for the charger unit cap and holsters, which was chosen for its UL94 V-0 at 1.5mm and 5VA at 3.0mm flame ratings. The clear 6557 grade used for the front panels offers a UL94 V-0 at 3.0mm rating. Both PC grades provide good impact resistance.

Performance PA fuels up Ferrari


Italian automotive components supplier Dytech Dynamic Fluid Technologies has selected a flame retardant, bio-based PA4,10 from DSM for produc- tion of fuel vapour separators used by premium car makers Ferrari and Maserati. Fuel vapour separators


ensure liquid fuel cannot find its way from the fuel tank to the fuel vapour canister, where it would damage functionality. While the fuel lines in most cars are protected with a flame retardant sheath, the separa- tors have typically been moulded in non-flame retarded polymers.

Tokai Rubber Industries, selected the 70% renewable EcoPAXX Q-KGS6 grade to meet demands for improved fire safety. The halogen-free flame retarded grade offers UL94 V-0 flammability at 0.7mm while offering the fuel


barrier required to satisfy automotive SHED tests (with standard E10 and E85 fuels). “We have been very

Valeo opts for Technyl eXten grade


Valeo has selected a specially- developed Technyl eXten PA from Solvay Engineering Plastics’ to manufacture radiator end-tanks for a new Renault-Nissan project.
