WellaVerde: Stylish and Sustainable W

hat do you get when you combine green living with stylish home décor and fashion accessories? WellaVerde! Inspired by the Spanish translation of “green footprint,” WellaVerde, LLC began in 2010 in Tallahassee with two friends who were passionate about the environment and wanted to make a difference. They struggled to fi nd a retailer with items that were both eco-friendly and stylish, so they created WellaVerde and set out to fi nd quality products that were either fair trade, recycled, handmade, sustainable, organic, reclaimed, natural or energy-saving. In short, these are greener alternatives to the mass- produced products found in most stores.

Co-founder Denise George and her new business partner and daughter-in-law, Taressa George, moved the business to Central Florida earlier this year and began by giving the company a new look, an expanded mission and adding new product lines from local artisans. The backgrounds of the two owners are perfectly matched. Denise holds a fi ne arts degree from Florida Southern College and has over 40 years of visual merchandising and retail design experience. Taressa has 20 years of business experience, an undergraduate business degree from Florida State University and a Masters in Business Administration from Rollins College. The two are excited about the business’ new home in Central Florida and becoming a part of the community’s growing sustainability movement. “By promoting sustainable-living projects in our community,

following sustainable business practices and selling quality, environmentally-friendly products, we hope to inspire others to live a more environmentally-conscious lifestyle.” Products can be purchased online at www.wellaverde.com or through their warehouse showroom by appointment.
