UPDATED PORTFOLIO FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS
WEG has updated its portfolio of standard industrial motors to incorporate advanced technology, resulting in the W40, W50 and W60 motors series. The motors collectively cover the power range from 90 to 4,250kW at frequencies of 50 and 60Hz. The motors are lower in weight, smaller and
have a reduced footprint than their predecessors, and are suitable for use under adverse conditions and assure low noise and vibration levels. Optimised rotor and stator laminations together with improved motor cooling give a high power density (ratio of output power to weight). The 2-pole and 4-pole motors in the W60
series are available in frame sizes from IEC450 to IEC560, with rated power from 800 to 4,250kW and rated voltage from 2,300 to 10,000V. To maximise application flexibility,
the motors are available in three configurations - open and self ventilated (IC01, WP-II), closed and air/air cooled (IC611, TEAAC) and closed with air/water heat exchanger (IC81, TEWAC). Noise and vibration levels are low thanks to
sturdy construction and a true stiff motor shaft that eliminates critical flexural vibrations below the rated speed. This makes the W60 motors well suited for applications with frequency inverter operation or strong shaking loads. The W60 motors are designed for continuous
use and are easy to install and commission. They are also well suited for use with medium voltage frequency inverters as standard motors with no speed restrictions due to critical vibration speeds. The W50 series is very similar to the W60
series in design and construction, featuring a compact and sturdy grey cast iron frame and
high power density. W50 motors with two to 12 poles are available in frame sizes from IEC315 to IEC450, rated power from 90 to 1,280kW, and rated voltage from 440 to 6,600V. The open drip-proofed (ODP) W40 motors
with 2-, 4- or 6-poles are the smallest members of the standard industrial motors family and are only suitable for applications where dirt and moisture are not factors.

Users can now program the new Rockwell Automation Allen- Bradley Guardmaster 440C-CR30 safety relay through the Connected Components Workbench software. The software reduces programming time and increases productivity by allowing users to create, control and monitor a safety system in the same software environment as their standard control. The Guardmaster 440C-CR30 safety relay is well suited for applications requiring four to nine safety circuits and control of up to five zones. The software guides users through a simple process of selecting certified safety
function blocks for the safety relay. Once programmed, an embedded Modbus interface allows the safety relay to communicate diagnostic data to Allen-Bradley Micro800 controllers, Allen-Bradley PanelView graphic terminals or Allen-Bradley CompactLogix controllers. Read the full story at
