TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION

So much more than just an electronic fuse L

OCC-Box from Lutze is an intelligent current monitoring device that provides reliable protection of 12 / 24Vdc circuits in a slim line 8.1mm housing.

Thinking outside the box Cubo O

he Cubo O range of thermoplastic enclosures from Ensto provide a tough, durable and high quality enclosing solution to meet the requirements of any application where the protection of internal electronics and controls is paramount. Enclosures begin at a size of 200 x 200mm and increase in multiples of 100mm up to the largest size of 600 x 400mm. The units are available in ABS or polycarbonate with plain sides or with preformed metric knockouts, the lids are available in grey or transparent. There are many accessories to choose from including extension frames, mounting plates, DIN rail, hinges and catches. As

Traditional fuses and MCB’s are designed to protect against short circuits but do not offer adequate protection for overload conditions in 24Vdc circuits. In addition many typical dc power supplies are not able to deliver enough short circuit current to blow or trip the protection. The problem only gets worse as the cable gets longer and in many cases the system is effectively unprotected! The LOCC-Box electronic fuses have no moving parts and use a microprocessor to accurately measure current. This means short circuit and over current fault situations are detected and acted upon immediately even where long cable runs are employed. The units can be grouped together to protect multiple branch circuits with fault finding made easy due to built in status indicators and a fault signaling output. Combine the unit with communication output plus a gateway module and you open up many more possibilities.

mproving the accuracy to which low resistance can be measured is provided by the Cropico D07 Plus digital ohmmeter. The versatile, rugged and easy-to-use D07Plus simplifies resistance associated with electrical connections, weld integrity, cable and joint resistance, electric motors and other engineering applications. Accurate to within 0.05%, lead resistance errors are eliminated with the incorporation of true four-wire technology, while advanced features include seven selectable measurement ranges, extending from 0.1 Ω to 6 kΩ - in addition to a 10A measuring current. The D07Plus is capable of recording and storing 1,000 measurements plus sequences. There is an option for selecting continuous or pulsed current

output. A long scale count meter (up to 60,000) enables the automatic averaging of forward and reverse measurements, which can then be downloaded to a PC or printer if required via a full serial RS232 or USB outlet port. A QWERTY keyboard and LCD graphics panel have been incorporated to allow for quick and easy access and control.
