PRODUCTS CIRCUIT PROTECTION COMBINER BOX OFFERS PV SYSTEM PROTECTION

Bussmann’s new fully customisable combiner box range provides protection, switching and monitoring of PV systems. Designed for system voltages from 600V DC to 1,000V DC the new line offers the

latest in overcurrent, overvoltage and monitoring technology in one custom-built package. With a capacity of up to 24 input strings the combiner

box can accommodate a range of input currents using PV specific gPV fuses in ratings of 1-20A in 10x38mm fuses and 25-32A ratings in 14x51mm fuses. The type of PV installation design will influence the

fuse protection configuration. Both positive and negative fusing for maximum system protection is recommended and the new range offers floating ground as standard. However, negative or positive

only fusing can be accommodated if required. To combat overvoltages and surges from direct and

indirect lightning strikes the fitting of the minimum of a Class II PV surge protection device (SPD) is recommended. However, in some instances the fitting of a Class I device may be necessary. Effective monitoring of the PV installation is a critical

requirement in managing system up-time, maximising productivity and efficiency. The monitoring system has a number of options depending on the system requirements, as well as power supply options such as self powered or externally powered. For additional safety and security the range features

true DC rated disconnect switches. Finally the enclosure plays a critical part in securely housing and protecting the internal components. Read the full story at www.connectingindustry.com/combi.

ABB’s Emax 2 is a low voltage circuit breaker with integrated energy management functions. Replacing existing traditional breakers with the Emax 2 breaker has the potential to achieve annual savings of 5.8 million megawatt hours (MWh), which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of 1.4 million EU households per year. By installing the new Emax 2 a typical building installation can expect reduction in peak power of up to 15%. The Emax 2 is well suited to applications

where protection and control of large amounts of energy are used in a low voltage environment. Data centres as well as industrial and commercial buildings are all well suited to the new switchgear. Central to the operation of the Emax 2 is a protection trip relay with an integrated power controller that

measures and evaluates energy consumption, then manages the loads to maintain or reduce the peak power usage as determined by the user. To manage energy, the Emax 2 switches off the power to non-essential equipment, returning it as soon as acceptable power levels are reached.

ABB www.abb.com T: 01234 567890 SILENT SOLID STATE RELAY

A new solid state power relay has been introduced by E-T-A Circuit Breakers that offers a noiseless relay function together with electronic overcurrent protection in a single unit. Designed for standard 4-pole automotive relay sockets (to ISO 7588), the Electronic Standard Relay ESR10-P ISO Maxi is suitable for 12V DC onboard electrical systems, is rated to 50A and offers remote re-setting in the event of an overload trip. The ESR10 is suitable for a wide

range of 12V DC systems, for example

switching and protecting motors, lamps and magnetic valves in road, construction, agricultural and rail vehicles as well as for work and leisure boats, and for industrial applications in process and automation. The ESR10 relay offers wear-free switching and is unsusceptible

to shock, vibration and dust. Silent switching can bring benefits for applications inside a passenger cabin. The ESR10-P ISO Maxi complements the E-T-A E-1048-8 which also combines the capability of a remotely controllable electronic load disconnecting relay with self limiting characteristics, and optimised overcurrent protection similar to that of a high quality circuit breaker.

Industrial automation customers worldwide can now standardise on the new global line of moulded case circuit breakers and control circuit and load protection devices from Rockwell Automation. The new line meets global certifications, including CE, CSA, CE and CCC. All the products in the range are

RoHS compliant and feature a reduction in materials that are hazardous to the environment. A significant number of products are IEC compliant. The Allen-Bradley Bulletin 140G

moulded case circuit breakers protect against overload, short circuit and ground fault conditions. Eight frame sizes span a current range of 15 to 3,000A and voltage range of 200 to 690V. All frame sizes are available in 3- and 4-pole versions. The line features increased short circuit protection with coordination available for motors from 0.1 to 630kW, fault currents up to 150kA and operational

voltages up to 690V. The Bulletin 140G circuit breakers

enable quicker clearing of higher level faults at higher voltage. The modular design adds installation flexibility with a full range of operators, from motor and rotary to flange operators. The interrupting capacity from 25

to 150kA allows a single unit to address multiple applications, which helps reduce product stocking. The extended line of flexible accessories includes auxiliary and trip unit alarm contacts, wiring terminations, and electronic trip units from 20 to 3,000A, allowing the product to meet the requirements of applications on a global basis.

SELECTIVE POWER DISTRIBUTION

The CB E1 S-R P electronic device circuit breakers and CB E1 S-C P from Phoenix Contact ensures load protection with high starting currents against overload and short circuit of up to 10A. Circuit breakers are particularly

suited to use in applications with very long cable paths. Device circuit breakers can also be combined easily and individually using the bridge system. The power distribution can be extended, the signal chain modified, or the auxiliary voltage bridged without significant wiring effort. The supply can be loaded with up to 41A if two bridges are connected. The base elements for the device

circuit breakers are available with push- in and screw connection technology.
