TEST & MEASUREMENT PRODUCTS BROADENING HORIZONS
FLIR Systems has broadened the scope of its range of thermal imaging cameras. Initially six FLIR branded products are being introduced but the range is expected to grow in the coming months. They complement the existing FLIR brand, Extech. Three electrical meters are included in the first product
NEW AVIONICS TEST PACKAGE
Telonic Instruments has introduced a new Avionics Test package from Kikusui consisting of a range of multi- functional AC power supplies coupled with powerful avionics software, which is designed to meet the requirements of aircraft test standards. The software SDO12-PCR-LE
provides support for these standards and is used to control Kikusui's PCR- LE/LE2 series of multi-functional AC power supplies. The system can simulate aircraft voltage and measure frequency up to 800Hz. The benefits of this system are easy
configuration by selecting standards; test step editing and saving which is convenient for development and evaluation required with marginal testing; test condition function enabling test history logging; and remote control via LAN. Test patterns are library-based, which enables tests to be easily run by simply selecting the wiring methods and test required. The range of AC power supplies
consists of seven models (500VA, 1kVA, 2kVA, 3kVA, 4kVA, 6kVA, and 9kVA), with power easily expanded up to 27kVA for a single-phase system, up to 54kVA for a single-phase three wire system, and up to 81kVA for a 3-phase system.

release. The first of the trio is the FLIR DM93, a digital multimeter with advanced variable frequency drive (VFD) filtering that allows accurate analysis of non-sinusoidal waveforms and noisy signals found in VFD controlled equipment. A special mode to eliminate ghost readings and automatic data recording to detect intermittent glitches are also standard features. Combining the capabilities of a true RMS (square root of mean square) multimeter and clamp meter
with a non-contact IR thermometer and Type K thermocouple, is the new FLIR CM78. Well suited for use on industrial equipment and complex machinery, this new instrument enables users to capture accurate AC/DC readings up to 1,000A or 1,000V. The next new addition is the FLIR VP52, a compact, non-contact voltage detector with a powerful LED
work light as well as dual-LED convenience lights at the probe tip. Other features include vibration feedback and multi-coloured LED alarms - useful for inspections conducted in noisy areas. The new FLIR MR77 moisture meter features a pinless sensor and an external pin probe that captures
moisture readings up to 19mm below the surface of various building materials. Readings from the FLIR MR77 can also be transferred via Bluetooth to Android devices running the FLIR
Tools Mobile app and via Meterlink to similarly enabled FLIR thermal imaging cameras. Completing the initial range is the FLIR VS70, a videoscope designed for use in the industrial environment.

The new TDR2000/3 time-domain reflectometer from Megger includes integrated power blocking filters, auto set-up for instant use, built-in Xpert mode for speedy fault identification and internal storage for up to 100 traces. Suitable for use with all types of paired metallic cables, the TDR2000/3 is a dual channel instrument complemented by directional control buttons and soft keys that make its operation easy and intuitive. Dual cursor capabilities allow instant measurement of the distance between any two points on the traces, while the trace comparison feature makes it easy to spot even small differences between traces. To aid reliable identification of faults close to the point of
connection of the instrument, the TDR2000/3 has an ultra-fast pulse capability, and to ensure precise fault location it has a minimum resolution of just 0.1m. Maximum range is up to 20km, depending on the type of cable and velocity factor selected. Velocity factors from 0.2 to 0.99 are supported, allowing the instrument to deliver accurate results with any type of cable, and a choice of five output impedances from 25Ω to 125Ω is offered, together with an automatic impedance matching function. Pressing the Xpert key adjusts
the range and gain of the instrument, and positions the cursor over the first major event on the cable. The next key press moves the cursor to the second major event, and subsequent key
presses toggle the cursor between the first and second events. The TDR2000/3 dual-channel
time-domain reflectometer has an IP54 ingress protection rating, which means that it is well protected against the vagaries of on-site use. The instrument has CAT IV 150V and CAT III 300V safety ratings, and a copy of Megger’s TraceXpert PC software is supplied as standard.

The recent Drives & Controls exhibition saw Micro-Epsilon showcase its latest range of eddy current displacement sensors that use
Sensor Auto Calibration system, the user can now simply connect the eddy sensor to the 3100 controller and all calibration data is automatically uploaded from the sensor to the controller. This means that there is no need for any lengthy calibration. Also on the stand was the gapCONTROL series of non-contact laser profile scanners. These

sensors are designed specifically for the measurement of gaps and edges, whilst simplifying sensor set-up and configuration for the user. The company also highlighted its latest
thermoIMAGER TIM 400 and 450 inline infrared thermal imagers. These higher resolution cameras offer improved image resolutions, and also detect even smaller temperature differences. For the full story visit
