Wilson Family Reclaims Brewton Iron Works Earle Wilson Jr. has repurchased
Brewton Iron Works Inc., Brewton, Ala., from Allied-Locke Industries Inc., Dixon, Ill. Astech Adds Nobake
Automation Astech Inc., Vassar, Mich., has
installed an automated carousel mold- ing line and a new core blower from Palmer Manufacturing & Supply. Astech specializes in the production
of low to mid-volume iron and steel castings, including austenitic manga- nese steel for wear resistant applica- tions. In 2012, Astech expanded its vertically integrated foundry to 75,000 sq. ft. Its castings are used in the power, mining, pulp and paper, automotive, agriculture, steel processing, asphalt and cement industries. Te newly installed eight-station
carousel line is dedicated to the production of nobake molds and can accommodate a maximum part weight of 900 lbs.
Bremen Launches
Inc., purchased the minority shares of stock of the company from local inves- tors. Tis was followed by a buyout of Earle Wilson Jr. in 2006. In 2013, Allied-Locke president Bill Crowson offered the company back to Wilson, placing it once again in the hands of the Wilson family. Wilson is chairman of the board and his son, Rick Wilson, serves as
president of the company. Brewton Iron Works Inc. specializes
in mechanical power transmission com- ponents such as sprockets, wheels, idlers and traction wheels. It also manufactures low volume gray and ductile iron parts, flame cut steel and UHMW plastic components for a variety of industries in the U.S.
Defense Division Family-run Bremen Castings, Bremen,
Ind., which recently celebrated a 75-year milestone, is launching a new entity, BCI Defense LLC. Falling under the Bremen Castings
umbrella, BCI Defense will focus on the firearms industry and manufacture a product that is unique to the company. Te products manufactured under mil-spec SQS15 will include the upper receiver, lower receiver and buffer tubes made from 7075-T6 aluminum, as well as assembly of the components. Bremen Castings continues to
manufacture machined complete gray and ductile iron components as well as products for OEMs.
