Evansville, IN – The Evansville, IN Police Department Traffi c Unit’s Harley-Davidson®

Police FLHTP

motorcycle was recently chosen as the best motorcycle in Police Fleet Manager magazine’s Police Vehicle Design Contest. The Evansville Police Traffi c Unit chose the Harley-Davidson®

FLHTP

motorcycle due to its rich tradition of reliable police motorcycles. They chose the “fl ying wheel” logo for the gas tank since it has been the standard symbol of a motor offi cer for over 60 years. The choice of the black-and-white paint is based on the traditional police colors and the instant recognition the colors bring. On the lower portion of the saddlebag a “Thin Blue Line” is painted that represents the thin line that maintains a civilized society and honors all fallen law offi cers.

The Evansville Police Department has a rich history of police motors dating back to the 1930s and ’40s. The department hosts an annual Basic Police Motor School every spring, and also offers re-certifi cations during the same class. Chief Billy Bolin heads the department, and the Motor Unit consists of four motor offi cers: Randy Matthews, Eric Midden- dorf, Allen Gansman and Nick Winsett. Submitted by Offi cer Randy Matthews.

Newton Township, PA – Newtown Township, PA is located in Bucks County, northwest of Philadelphia. Motor offi cers are (L to R): Offi cer Nicklaus Whitney, Corporal Timothy Keegan, Offi cer Patrick Hardy and Sergeant Daniel Bell. Submitted by Chief Henry “Rick” Pasqualini.
