Atlantic City, NJ Police Back on Harley-Davidson®

Motorcycles! I

t’s been about 15 years since Harley-Davidson® Police motorcycles were used in Atlantic City, NJ. We are proud to announce that Atlantic City PD is back on Harley-Davidson®

motorcycles. Leaving

their BMWs behind, they realized that the new Harley-Davidson®

Project Rushmore Police bikes the 2014 Harley-Davidson®

are the way to go. Features like the seat suspen- sion design for increased rider comfort and also the ducted fairing with windshield are new features on Police motorcycles, and the H-D®

Touring models have given them the equipment they need. The ABS hydraulic disc brakes with the linking of the front and rear brakes that will disengage below 25 mph have been a great help to our officers in the field. Put that all together with the other features that the 2014 H-D FLHTP® Glide®

Police motorcycles have to offer, and you have one

great police motorcycle. While on duty these new motorcycles will be extremely visible by all pedestrians and motorists,

Buffalo Grove, IL B

uffalo Grove, IL Police Department has had a motor unit since 1999, when the department leased one Road King®

Police motorcycle

from Woodstock (IL) Harley-Davidson. In 2000, the unit expanded to three motors. The department had typically turned in the leased motorcycles at the end of each season, then leased new one(s) in the following spring. Each new Road King®

Police motorcycle was

always ordered in plain white, with blue decal graphics. In 2012 the motor unit was reduced to two riders sharing

one motorcycle on opposite (day/evening) shifts. The good news is the motorcycle changed to an Electra Glide®

Police

model in a more attractive blue/silver color scheme. The motorcycle program has been a successful program for

the agency. Over the years, it has been utilized for traffic enforce- ment, motorcycle safety education, patrol of the Village’s parks, and for various other community relations assignments.
