3Mfloor pads have put an added gloss on the experi- ences of shoppers at the- centre:mk by restoring the shine to the centre’s Grade 2 listed Travertine stone floors. By specifying 3M, contract cleaner Europa has alsomade the floors quicker, easier and cheaper tomaintain, to the delight of thecentre:mk’smanage- ment company, CBRE. With 1.3million sq ft of re-

tail space and over 27mil- lion visitors each year, thecentre:mk is one of the UK’s busiest shopping cen- tres. “Enhancing the experi- ence for visitors and tenants is a critical part of our future strategy,” said CBRE opera- tionsmanager, Brad Cur- cillo. “Additionally, with the Travertine stone floor being Grade 2 listed, we have an obligation to enhance and protect it.” CBRE challenged Europa

to restore the shine to the dull stone floors and create an ambience worthy of a top 10 retail destination. Previ- ously Europa had been em- ploying a general scrubbing and buffing process to keep

the floors clean. They looked at a number of different sys- tems and processes to get the deep clean and shine they wanted before settling on the 3Msolution. “Not only did they deliver

the best results, but they also proved to be themost cost-effective” said Europa’s environmental services manager for thecentre:mk, Jason Buckley. 3MScotch-Brite Surface

Preparation (SPP) floor pads were used to deep-clean the floor and remove stains without the need for any chemical strippers. Two grades of 3MTrizact HX discs were then used to grind and polish the dull and scratched floor to a smooth sheen, without reducing slip resistance. Finally, 3M Scotch-Brite High-Shine purple pads were used to buff and polish the floor to a brilliant shine. Having restored the floors,

£9.1 million cleaning contract with London Borough of Sutton

Facilities management provider Servest Group has won a £9.1 million cleaning contract with the London Borough of Sutton. The seven-year contract with a three-year extension option is for daily and specialist cleaning of all council offices and selected schools in the borough. It starts in April 2014. Servest has been working in partnership with Sutton since 1995. Following the council’s de-

cision to rationalise service delivery to a sole supplier, Servest took part in a robust tender process, which resulted in Sutton awarding the borough-wide contract for cleaning to Servest. Rob Legge, Servest’s chief executive officer UK and Europe, said: “We have been delivering

cleaning services to Sutton since 1995 and are delighted to be able to extend our partnership for at least another seven years. Being awarded the full cleaning contract is a real vote of con- fidence in our impressive track record and strong local management. We have delivered on all of our promises and will continue to do so. The client trusts that we can deliver on quality and on price, and is impressed with our cutting-edge products and processes and our industry- leading staff training programmes.” Gerald Almeroth, strategic director of resources at Sutton Council, said: “We are pleased to

be able to continue our long-standing relationship with Servest and look forward to them con- tinuing to deliver clean, safe environments for all users of our buildings.” www.servest.com
