BigQuestion

How do you engage with your guests via mobile/cell phone, both in and outside the park?

Stephen Pastusak, Jolly Roger Parks, USA: We have always been on the cutting edge of internet technology and we pride ourselves in bringing easier and more efficient ways to do business with mobile devices and cell phones. Before visitors arrive they can find us on the web, Google+ and Google Maps, and purchase tickets and passes. Once here at the park, guests often use our QR (quick response) codes to see videos and find discount coupons, and of course pictures and videos are almost instantly posted to various social media sites.

Birgit Reckersdrees, Phantasialand, Germany: We would like to offer more inside in the park, like some special things in the queues and sending guests SMS, but we have problems with phone reception and there are some areas where you can’t get any signal at all. We have a team working on this. We do have a concept for an app, and are working hard on the design of this, because when we do something we like to do it properly. Already guests can download the music from Maus au Chocolat [dark ride] and now Chiapas [water ride] as ringtones.

Camille Jourdan-Mark, Michigan’s Adventure, USA: Michigan’s Adventure has an app for Android and Apple phone users. The application provides a map of the park for visitors to use during their visit. It can also be used by guests to purchase admission tickets and season passes. Another portion of the app is dedicated to special event information. In order to encourage our guests to use our app, we promote it in our newsletters, on our website and have information available in various locations in the park.
